Safe the throw away old insurance docs

Im having a clear out and I have all my insurance certificates, cover notes etc for the past 8 years Is it safe to throw these out or are there any instances where you have to prove you were insured X amount of time ago?

i keep all my Docs in a file

I can do that at work, was just wondering if I needed to keep them for any reason.

I keep mine for a few years. I had one bump come back to haunt me 2 years later, so at least having the docs even though I was no longer with that company helped.

I keep stuff like that 3 years, then shred and burn them. Any longer and it just starts taking up to much space.

Sammy told me off for keeping all mine recently

Ive had to keep old ones for a court case before but you would know about it by now if that was the case. If they dont take up too much room though - keep em I say
