Amazing as said looked after properly.
Does it use much oil now?

Would sooner always have a car well maintained with bad few miles than something that does 2 miles a day week in week out.
Unfortunately it does burn oil, approx 1ltr every 1000miles. Been using Lucas oil stabiliser in it which extends the consumption to 1ltr every 2.5-3k.

Im certain that had I kept to the 12,500 service schedule it would be long dead. 5000 mile intervals have saved its life I think.
Paul at Renault Parts Direct is probably sick of me by now though 😂

Still on original clutch pack? My meg with the same engine although different box, the 7 speed wet clutch setup from the alpine got a clutch pack under warranty at 25k!
Original clutches, gearbox, engine, exhaust, turbo, cat, driveshafts and windscreen!
It’s had a TCM and a second hand rlink screen as non wear and tear consumable items and suspension, brakes and tyres as expected wear and tear consumables.

That's very impressive that!👍

200,000 miles mapped and the original o2 sensor was giving up… I can forgive that don’t you think?

Another milestone.
Since the 5’s been here the Clio has had a fair amount of time out but alas yesterday she tipped over 220k.
The lack of use has meant the nsf brake pad is sticking in the caliper so getting a touch hot so I’m hoping to sort that this week.
Anyhoo, she still looks good from a distance 🤣

Oh bother.

Pre mot inspection revealed a bit of a blow… I can’t complain about it though can I, show me another original exhaust on similar age/mileage.
I'll let you know after the Smax goes through it's MOT in a couple of weeks.

197,000 miles and original exhaust still, on a 2008 car.
Although I did need to get 1 hanger welded back on after it snapped last year. 🤣

Exhaust has done well for the mileage!

Both my mk2 dci's are still on original exhausts, 203k and 161k. One thing renault got right on them

My first 172 exhaust last 6000 miles from brand new🤣

Replaced under warranty they said we have fixed you car sir thats £392!

After me asking in a not very polite call how the f**k a exhaust should be knackered wear and tear on a 6 month old car they did it for free "so kind!"

Next one lasted till it got stolen at 80k ish thou.

I got the R5 because the Clio needs a bit of TLC.

So at the moment I’m not using the Clio for lessons, but I aim to get back to using it soon.

One of the things I wanted to do was get the RSTuning map removed, so I dropped it off at Engine Dynamics for Andy to work his magic.

Must say it feels smoother now and certainly no slower 🤔 should have done it long time ago.

Will be interesting to see how the oil consumption goes now and also how the oil dilution changes.

How are you getting on with the 5 now?

I really want to love it, but I can’t. I love the way it looks just can’t fall in love with how it is without an engine or gears. The charging and the issues that brings along with being limited on mileage, etc I think has really taken the shine off of it for me.

I love that everyone else loves it to look at it too, like this guy earlier on that I let cross the car park the smile in the thumbs up say it all!!

But given the choice, I will take the Clio over the 5 at any given opportunity

Basically i’ve found ev’s to be completely soulless.

Great as an everyday car - cheap, quiet, efficient etc but zero character.

I’m going to test drive an alpine a290 as i’m changing the tesla soon. See if that is any more engaging/interesting.

I loved the test drive of the A290 for a one off fun spin and based off that I’d probably get one but then being exactly the same situation as I am now 😕.

What issues you having with charging and overall range?
I’m getting 200 miles absolute max from a full charge in summer.

My home charging situation has changed and I no longer have access to a charger overnight. So I’m now faced with going to my local Tesco ~1 mile each way and plugging in for the maximum 3 hours their carpark allows and charging at 10kwh (which even with my bad math won’t give me a full charge 🙈) at £0.49pkwh or a 6 mile drive each way to a rapid charger to sit there for a max of 1 hour of that carparks allowed time to get a full charge at £0.65pkwh. I have to charge every day or else I’ll be halfway through the 2nd day and need to charge 🙈

This is all on the proviso that the chargers are all working and don’t have absolute cretins of society just using them as regular parking spaces and buggering off somewhere.

It absolutely sucks.

Yeah those circumstances are s**t, shame you lost access to home charging too.
