Scottish Specialists, share your recommendations

Good afternoon fellow Scots, any recommendations for exhausts in Glasgow or around Glasgow? Got a cat back system at the moment, although the tailpipe is a twin exit and hangs lower than I like. Thinking of seeing if I can get a custom back box that is quieter and more subtle fitted. Any recommendations appreciated :)

Used Kenny Brown Motors for the first time this week (well actually started a couple of weeks ago). Cracking service from a really decent guy who obviously, really, knows his stuff!

Going to give rentec a shout tomorrow or possible Reno care in Tranent as I've heard they are quite good as well. Need the belts done and the dephaser and probably a full 72k service as well. It's not going to be cheap :( will report back

As mentioned above I use Progrip in Larbert for all my alignment and servicing (on the cars I care about history, so don't do it myself lol) - Hes started doing mapping now with a franchise so going to get one of my DCIs done this week and see how it goes!

Used SWR for belts, although I just removed the engine and got them to time it up lol car was mega strong afterwords though! so done properly!

and Car & Bike Paint in bonybridge for any of my paintwork stuff.

Car & Bike paint all SWR's cars and i believe they do an amazing job. Might get some stuff via them in the future
Once again SWR win hands down for me.

Anyone recommend Rentec ?
They are pretty close to me so it's ideal!
Looking at getting the belts etc done there and possible future mods fitted if they have a good rep

Have a look at previous posts.

Yeah had a look and turns out they're pretty good!

Another one for you guys :

Decent body shops around Edinburgh or just outside ? Don't want to travel miles as obviously I would be leaving the car with them.
Needing a few things resprayed and hopefully somewhere that can spray/fit a cup spoiler.

I have used Rentec for a major service, MOT and another service very good and I like that they use genuine parts.

Will be back soon. Bodyparts there is a new(ish) place down in Granton - sadly I cant remeber the name but will try to find

Anybody heard of and/or used Chizfab in Lochgelly for any steel fabrication work? Looking at getting a half cage made up, but can't really bring myself to pay the prices of a Safety Devices one or similar.

Big in the "drift" "scene" IIRC. Been considering asking them to make up a half cage myself, lemme know what the price is. Just want somewhere good to mount harnesses more than anything!

I'm the same really! Got harnesses that I'll mount to the floor for now but want to get them mounted so they're sitting horizontal in future. Plus it looks a bit more purposeful lol. I've emailed them so I'll let you know if I hear back tomorrow or that.

I had my safety devices full bolt in cage mounts welded in by chizfab. I'm happy with the job and price wasn't bad either.

Chizfab are good, Kyles Fab skills are brilliant.

If i go down to cage route for the Megane it will be going up there to be done

Said it several times already but SWR really are top guys.

Had all 4 of my hub swivels done this week, Cracking price and service as per, even if Michael did have to go out and hunt for bolts/circlips to fit since Renault are s**t and will only sell you a complete hub for £££'s

SWR are amazing, Seen myself go there for 10mins to drop stuff off for Kevin and end up spending 4 hours there having a laugh.

Cant wait to see the Cossie on the road either 😊

Who's decent for wheel refurb's these days? Preferably Central/Glasgow area.

Had used Chameleon before but i want to go elsewhere this time.

Few of the guys on another forum I use recommend P&J but I haven't used Peter myself. Can get contact details if you PM me.

There's also Glentyan in Linwood. Colin's done two or three sets for me in the past and gives a years guarantee.

Anyone used Kenneth Brown in Hillington Glasgow recently? Could do with an Aux belt kit but might just do it myself if the cars not blown away by tomorrow! Need the geometry done too once I've fitted new springs n shocks

Any recommendations for getting a set of Brembos repainted?

Mine are looking terrible and badly need painted and tidied up. Preferably somewhere i can just drop the car off and leave it with them and not have to remove calipes myself and try to get to them with them.

Dreadnought in Callander do zircon stuff buddy. I use them for a lot of stuff that i wouldn't bother SWR with, IE brake rebuilds, Geo's, etc. Brilliant guys and cheap as well. They are my go to garage TBH and i only use SWR for the Renaultsport/Megane "special" jobs.

Didn't know they done calipers painting as well. Handy as I need to get my wheels refurbed and that's who I was going to use. Shall see how much they are, was going to DIY them but cba with the hassle

They were absolutely spot on mate!

They have rubber around their sockets and stuff, they really take care of the wheels post paint!

I'm willing to fit anyone's timing belt in the Aberdeen area for £180 with the owner supplying the parts.

Genuine timing belt kit and dephaser can be had for £222 delivered and then you just need oil of your choice and an oil filter at £9 with sump plug washer. I can seal your cam cover for an extra £10 too.

Im just trying to help people out as there is nobody close to ABZ that seems to do these.

Following on from @Danny_172 's recommendation for wheels refurb's at Glentyan i had mine done by Colin today.

Very, very impressed. Superb finish and he even went to the extra effort of putting an extra coat of lacquer on to try and protect them a bit more from the aggressive brake pads i run. Very nice guy to deal with. Will certainly use him again for anything needing powdercoated

I'll probably get them to do my front callipers at some point as well.

Wheel's cost a bit more than anyone else quoted me but i was more than happy to pay the extra due to the excellent customer service and work that they do.

You get for you pay for is so true, My last refurb was done by another company in the Glasgow area, Colin had my wheels fully stripped in 10 minutes as they just had one coat of powder on them from my last refurb. These should last a LOT longer
