Scottish Specialists, share your recommendations

Djw John

Following a recent thread it would seem like a good idea for everyone to be able to share good Scottish Garages and specialists.

Please speak from personal experience if possible, not really wanting your mums dogs, favourite parrots recommendation ;) Also, this isn't the thread for slagging garages off.

I'll start it rolling.

For general things like belts/cams/general repair and servicing work I've used SWRAutos in Stirling http://www.swrautos.co.uk/

For exhaust work Djw Dave has used Complete Auto Solutions in Shotts http://casshotts.co.uk/

And for suspension setup I always use CLCM in Edinburgh http://www.clcm-autotyre.co.uk/

Please add your own thoughts and contact details of who you recommend.

Thanks
John

For belts and any other work on all my cars - Reno Car Care in Tranent

Tracking & Alignment - Progrip in Larbert

Have used the guys at Andy Gallaghers in Kilmarnock before.

Good bunch of guys.

Moorfield I think it's called.

I know of quite a few CS members including myself who use ProGrip in Larbert for any alignment work, another option for people nearer my way!

http://www.pro-grip.org.uk/Home.html

They do other stuff too, I know Martin_172 pretty much refuses to take his cars anywhere else.

EDIT: Too slow Lol.

I went and got my belts etc done in ness motors in Inverness.. no complaints from me.

At 700 quid it was more expensive than SWR though!

Aye, another one for Ness here actually.

Mind that time my 200 br....... Ness was the only dealer in Scotland that didn't fob me off and knew exactly what the problem was.

Paintwork: Car & Bike Bonnybridge, myself, martin_172 and noddie have used him. Top bloke and has painted some special vehicles over the years, also sponsors a porche in the SMRC.

And as above Progrip. Cant fault them!

I use Rentec autocare in Edinburgh down near Portobello. http://www.rentecautocare.co.uk/

Have used them loads over the years and they have been brilliant. They are really friendly and are always keen to have a chat when dropping off/picking up the car, and definitely seem to know what they are chatting about. Would highly recommend them for everything from belts to check overs to brake fluid replacement They are very reasonably priced as well.

Also CLCM for tracking.

Anyone got any recommendations for exhaust places that are actually worth speaking to? Pretty sure the exhaust is blowing on my 182, can't track the leak down though. Was considering just putting the car into SWR for an early service anyway, so if I can't find anyone more local (Glasgow) to look at the exhaust I'll just ask them to take a look/listen

I have gave SWRAutos an email to find how much the will take to do my belts with me supplying the parts, says its been done in my service book by mg vehicle repairs (never heard of them) but no receipt to prove :(

Thanks guys, might as well just stick with my original plan then. All the others are about the same distance away, SWR just trumps them with easy transport home if required!

Does anyone know any decent garages in ayrshire that can do my cambelt and dephaser for a decent price?

I recommend the mechanic i use as i wouldn't use anyone else. Eurocare, in the industrial units just off Waggon Road. I know him as he used to work with my best mate. He is really good and he always does things properly. I have booked mine in for a major service with dephaser pulley also. Kevin always gives a decent price. If you do go and see him, tell him Dave sent you and he might give you a better price.

Kenny Brown Motorsport's in Hillington Industrial estate are familliar with the F4R.

They use the correct timing tools and insist on genuine Renault parts (if your supplying) very professional outfit and have a very commendable clientele base. They're not overly expensive but not as cheap as SWR, i've used him several times for things and always been happy. When i was in last there was a 1000 mile old RS6 in for servicing so pretty confident he's good...

Im giving SWR a huge thumbs up as well as billy at CAS.
Had my car to them a few times and the work is nothing but the best.

The guys at SWR are nothing but spot on and very very helpfully and there prices are very good also.

Billy at CAS has has done a couple of jobs for me and once again no stone is left unturned.

Anyone got recommendations for bodywork repairs in the West? I'm needing a good way of deleting my headlight washers, and as the bumper could do with a tidy anyway, I'm thinking about getting the holes smoothed over at the same time as the general tidy up.
