Seat belt warning chime

Does anyone know of an easy way to disable the seat belt warning chime (without plugging the seat belt into the stalk). Only the reason I ask is because I sometimes need to remove my belt before coming stationary (have to reverse quickly into my drive before a car comes flying around the corner etc).

Easiest way is to pull the connector at the end of the buckle keep, and short the two wires out.

Don't forget to insulate them.

Thats one of the recommendations they make on the ADI courses, its also allowed for in the legislation.

It gives you greater movement to look over your shoulder.

If you're doing it quickly, then why is it a huge deal?

With you on that one, I take mine of the reverse the Clio into the garage, the beeping does not annoy me enough to want to disconnect it though.

I recall from my driving test days that the instructor told me that you are actually allowed to remove your seat belt for reversing monoevres!!

I was under the impression that the beeping didn't happen in reverse???? If its a quick reverse does the beeping annoy you that much though??

Does anyone know of an easy way to disable the seat belt warning chime (without plugging the seat belt into the stalk). I basically don't like to wear my seatbelt and don't want to listen to it for the first two minutes of my journey.

I've only been using this site for a short period of time but I have to say it amazes me at just how many unhelpful, bigoted comments are posted in response to a straight forward question.... why is this? :S I have never experienced this on any other forums... (I for one do not understand)

And for all the speculators the reason for not wanting to wear my seat belt in certain instances is also due to the following reasons/scenarios:

Multistorey car parking in London (having to reverse/dash into a space quickly etc)
I also have a long drive which involves opening gates in order to reach my house and don't feel it necessary to wear a seat belt when not driving on a public road/when driving on my own property

Some cars , both mine do, it also switches off the auto dipping interior mirror at night and tilts the nearside door mirror down so you can see the kerb.

If anyone wants a circuit to switch the seatbelt gong off when in reverse, I can work one up for you all.

Right off the top of my head yet again, the V6 turning circle of around 13 m (43 ft) - around three car lengths - turning what might normally be a three-point turn into a four-point turn. Despite these limitations, the Clio V6 is easy to live with on a day to day basis.

My head also added :

The Clio V6 was the most powerful serial produced hatchback in the world with 255 bhp, exceeding the Ford Focus RS (225 bhp), the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA (250 bhp) and the SEAT León Cupra R (225 bhp).

Yup the turning circle is wider than most but after a few turns it becomes second nature and something which does not annoy in the slightest.

I love my Vee and wouldn't swap it for anything this side of a GT3

Sorry it may be recommended to take it off for reversing, but its not necessary. Put it this way I've never felt the need to take it off reversing anywhere in 8 years of driving.

BMW have had that feature on the 5/6/7 series for years, the 3 series has it on high end models since 2002 and its come down the range now as standard.

Porsche since 2000

"Her-in-doors" has it on her Golf V6-4-Motion.

Lots of cars have it , it saves rim damage when reverse parking.

And the auto dipping mirror control likewise. Without it you could easily reverse into something quite well lit if you are using mirrors only.
