I had a rattling noise from my 182's engine yesterday, when i checked it out I found, (what looks like) some sort of heat deflector to be very loose. On closer inspection it looks like both bolts holding it on have been sheared clean off and it was being held on by my engine cover! I've attached photos to show you what the piece looks like. Can anyone tell me a. What it is?, b. Is it needed? and c. How could the bolts have sheared off?
