RB 182 Cup
A lot of people mention the phrase "fried egg look" when talking about indicators on 'older' cars.
We've kept the 182 Cup seriously standard since buying it four years ago.
Hoping that when the time comes for it to move on, someone will be happy to put their hand in their pocket for a mint, unmolested, original example.
I've had to give in to the indicator mod though on the front.
Here she is with the oem fried egg bulbs
The coating on this bulb has gone all flaky so its a fair bit brighter (and less orange) than the other side
Bulb removed pretty easy from the drivers side
A simple twist anti clockwise a quarter of a turn.
Note the rib at the 12 o'clock position - this is how you want to refit it
Heres where it comes from, pretty accessible even behind the a/c pipes
Bit further away
Twist the bulb anticlockwise, and remove from the holder
PY21W, or 581 bulb
This is what it means by 'offset pins' which a lot of people talk about.
The pins aren't 180degrees opposite each other
Fit the new bulb in the holder, twist clockwise to fasten
Mmmm, lovely chrome, and NO ORANGE! :thumb:
Fitted back in behind the light housing
Trust me, it flashes orange
Passenger side is a bit tighter to get to, but still easy
Here is the holder you need to remove (just left under the bonnet bump stop)
And a bit further away again
Jobs a good un
Better, looks cleaner, more modern.
A tidy little upgrade I am happy with.
Silvatec bulbs were £9.99 a pair from Halfords.
