size of 182 fuel tank 50l cant fit in more than 40l.....?

  clio 182 'full fat'
anyone know why this is? been told by many people it 70 odd quid to fill a 182 up with petrol (shell vpower)
had it down to the absolute min mark 2-3 times with light on then brimmed it
arounf 57 quid to fill thing it was £1.41 a litre
thats only 40 litres, a whole ten litre off what ive been told
is this because its the cup model? is there something wrong with my guage?
mine is a 182 full fat model 2004. please let me know how many litre you can fit in your car from empty thanks:S

  Whichever has fuel
Put a fuel can in your boot. Drive until the car runs out. Put fuel can in tank, then fill up.

if it becomes apparent that im the only one with a 40 litre tank then i may try this but untill then its abit impractical LOL

Alot of folk do, although the way to think of it is its an extra £3-4 odd to fill it with v power than ordinary fuel.

  172 cup
Used to without fail run on v-power for about 2 years, Now prices are daft i dont bother, car runs just as good to be honest

i havent used v-power yet in mine and it runs fine and pulls well.. i brimmed mine the other week at £1.33 and it was £57 which is 42 litres and the fuel light was on for ages so the guage must be well off!

If you hold down the button on the wiper stalk, the one you press to toggle through the trip with the ignition off, and the turn the ignition on, but not the car on, it tells you exactly how many litres are in.

Was my favourite button on my 172 when I had it, as when the red light came on, I knew how far I could go without running out. Plus it makes the clocks do funny things which amused me .

Only got 44 litres in mine from 0 miles remaining last time I topped up... used Tesco Momentum (99RON) this time around and the placebo effect is amazing :D

The manual says its 50lt / 11g but mine has twice run dry on 10.3g according to the trip computer, not let it run dry since. The fuel light comes on at/around the 9g mark so in theory you've got 2g left or 60 miles worst case scenario which is enough to get you to the next garage even on the motorway.
Yes I too run V-power noticed a lack of urgency with standard fuel in the tank plus I get double points on my shell card which makes the money off vouchers a nice surprise.

I've definitely put around 50 litres in a clio many times before. And about the V-power, mine won't really run on much else lol so yeah I notice a difference.

I just took my petrol light as far as I was willing to take it, filled it up to the brim, 44.11L then did the stalk test when I got home again an it said 51L.

I was told that there was 2 gallons left over after the light comes on. The most i have done is 40miles on the light because I had to and i was expecting to run out. I fill up from the light and it is 42l. So seems correct. I work out mpg from 9g and in fAirness to the trip. Comp it is almost bang on. Fuk nows how people have had over 400 m to a tank though. The best i saw was full to light @ 360m.

Is it just me or does the second half of the needle go down much quicker than the first? I have 1 bar left, but my trip still says I have 131 miles left at 38mpg average, anyone else get this?

I find that what the computer says and what you get is two Vastly separate things.

Mine used to say 38MPG Average on my commute, And in actual fact at the pump on working it out it did around 23-26MPG.

i just changed the Lambda sensor on mine so hopefully it solves it.

Also if you can get TESCO Momentum 99 i would suggest that over V-Power simply on cost. Here is 1.32 Vs 1.42 for V Power
