Stopping interior/boot lights draining the battery.

Edit: Spelling fail, could a Mod change 'interioer' to 'interior' please.

Third time this month that the interior lights have flattened my battery.

The first time was when changing the brakes and the boot was open for quite sometime so was to be expected.

Then I had my doors open whilst I was sound proofing and fitting speakers, again to be expected.

Today I washed the car and spent 15-20 minutes changing the rear speakers over. That and opening the doors to wash the seals & quickly hoover/shampoo had flattened it again.

I know the battery is too small for that size of engine, other than rewiring a bigger one in the boot I was thinking of locating the switches and fashioning something to hold them in and turn the lights off when fiddling/washing.

Does anybody know where I can find the lever/switch on each door and also the boot lid?

Thanks

What car?

Take the bulbs out? Got to be easier than wiring in a switch or similar.

Also, 2 or 3 interior bulbs should take 8 hours plus to drain a healthy battery.

swop lights with LED ones, but if yer using yer car on a daily basis it shouldnt drain battery.

When you say the battery is too small , what are you using?

Its a 182. It has a 063 battery which was new about a month and a half ago as the original one from the factory gave up the ghost.

The car drives short distances 4 miles per day round trip to work but usually gets a decent run at the weekend.

I know leaving the light on overnight will drain it but as I thought it should take quite a while, not barely an hour.

Got a jump start last night and then started fine when leaving my friends later that evening.

If you've had a new battery a month and a half ago, and the problem has happened 3 times this month...

sounds like your new battery is duff.

Does sound like a dud battery, my 1.2 had a broken boot sensor to turn the light off, it stayed on constantly for a good week before I found out.

Set interior light to off, and unplug the boot light if your worried about it happening again, thats what I do all the time now just incase.
