Sunroof Creaking and rattling?

Hi, I've had the car for around 7 months and id say for 50% the sunroof rattles and creeks as i'm driving along, i myself have blocked it out my ears but my mates keep saying whats that noise.

Does anyone have a solution to this, I've tried putting plumbers tape round the catches but don't want to do anything too drastic as i don't want it to leak.

theres like a little bar where the handle is?? unclip it and cut a piece of drinking straw and slide it over it. clip back into place, job done!

I'm off out now to try this. If it works, you are a legend haha! It's been driving me mad for nearly a year!

give the catches a squirt of wd40 (I seen this on youtube) it seems to quieten it down a little......be interesting to find know if the straw thingy solves the prob

Instead of straws I used cardboard, definetly quietened it down a lot. Cheers mate!

How did you do that......do you mean packing the catch with cardboard that will hinder the operation of the sunroof?

Just undo the sunroof clip, find the black circular bar and stick some cardboard under it. It'll give it that bit more tension so the sunroof will be closer to the car and not rattle about

Spot on the straw thingy worked.....I like simple fixes!

The straw thing definitly made it quieter, hasnt totally stopped but much better.

There used to be a bit of foam stuck to the piece that hits the bar, but it's crap and deteriorates giving you the creaking.

I've used some spray grease and it seems to have cured it. Was the passenger side front bit. Not on the clip, the actual bit that slides into the car. Thanks for help guys!
