Sven's Project - 172 phase2 Flamer - Ebay Bargin

After a long hunt through here, piston heads, Ebay etc for a project car I found this little beasty and won it for £600.

Tidy enough, small amount of bodywork needed to the near side along with a few electrical niggles and two shot window regs.

Towed it back from Uxbridge nr London on the one man tow after collection companies wanting in excess of £400 to lift it!!

Tidy but grubby interior... all the controls and plastics are covered in minging hand grease so some mega valeting required.

Plugged into Clip and sure enough the 'usual Clio suspects'

Daft Halfrauds K&N removed and original box (in the boot) replaced complete with ITG panel...

Quick wash and polish and the paint comes up really well!

Half a day and a few spares and back onto clip

Thats more like it!

Inlet manifold off and cleaned ( in the dishwasher.... dont tell the wife) throttle body cleaned, and spark plugs changed for good mesure...2 cracked...that'll be the miss fire then!

Then off for a quick test drive..... Any one guess where I live lol......

Its Genuine Renault Clip....Dealer soft and hardware.... perks of being an Ex Renult mech
It does literally everything for all models.

That damage to the N/S doesnt look severe - I notice a new front wing, ding in the door and rubbing strip needed. Is that it, as it seams a fair bargain?

all looks very tidy for the money, its my favourite colour - My monaco was all I could find at the time.

@ work for the belts, service, new coil pack, middle and rear exhaust hangers and pre mot inspection...

Since discovered it's polybushed all round and remarkably clean underneath.... someone loved it once!

Soooooooo much easier when you have both 2 and 4 post ramps to play with....

Having slight issues with the beasty and a hesatation and misfire..... replaced the plugs ( 2 were cracked ) replaced the coil pack ( tracking marks up the enamel ).... and she's still not a happy bunny, I've ordered a set of leads so fingers crossed this cures it.

Wind screen is arriving on friday so get that fitted on sat morning all being well, then just the ballast pack for the mot and she's good to go

Miss fire cured ( duff lead) now just waiting on a windscreen and a ballast pack then MOT here we come!

Finally got the windscreen in today at work and cured the dreaded red 'flashing' and 'solid' light..... bloody key fob battery was goosed!!!! and theres me like a dickhead getting ready to start testing all the loom..... just proves go for the simple things first!

It seems ALOT torque-ier, and seems to rev up faster so i'd have to say yes!

just need to sort out that engine bay now its looking pants

I've nearly had her a year now.... Just trying to keep her OEM+ really, Cruise control is next on the list, and somewhere down the line the spare engine is being rebuilt and supercharged.

Started the engine rebuild but that was as far as I got...... It'll all end up on the bay if anyones after a full body kit ( needs work ) 2x 172 blocks and one head.
