Tailgate dent repairs after reversing accident

Hey all, I know there are a few guys on here That work in car body repairs and others with experience so I'm hoping somebody with an idea might be able to help.

Below is some damage done to my brothers fiesta after a reversing accident. I'm wondering if anyone could give me an idea on roughly what the damage (in pounds) might be to fix roughly, and what the work might entail i.e. bodywork repairs or a new tailgate/boot completely.

There is no physical damage to the rear bumper shape other than a scuff which will clean up and paintwork can be touched up if required.

Like I said I'm not looking for any definite figure. Right now I don't know of it will cost £200 or £900! Just as idea. For all I know it could be obvious a new tailgate would be needed because of the size of it

He is away on company business for a fortnight so can't get it to garage, other than trying to send them a picture like on here and there not gonna quote off that.

would it not be cheaper and easier to get a new boot lid and fit that? then get it sprayed..

Thats the kind of thing I'm thinking but I'm by expert on the subject hence asking the question

Obviously this is my opinion but with a dent in that position it will be very hard to remove the dent in the correct shape with the crease line running through it. Therefore filler work is going to need to shape, by the time that is done and sprayed the labour costs are going up. However if you can get a new boot depending on price and fit that, then it's just prep and paint required. Might even me luck enough to find one in the correct colour. My 2pence anyway

looks too deep a dent to be repaired, will most likely be a new tailgate if you go to a decent bodyshop, any bodyshop that say they will repair it is dodgy imo.

prices vary from shop to shop, the way the industry is atm, some will do it close to no profit at all to get the work, shop around by sending photos to various bodyshops for quotes

Had two repair shops willing to look at the the picture and give me an estimate. One is chain business with several location and where insurers always send you there. They said "From the limited image received, a rough price I would quote approximately £400 + vat + cost of any badges on the tailgate. Badges are stuck on and never normally stick correctly once removed and refit. The cost to repair
would probably be cheaper than replacing the tailgate."

The other spot said £360 + vat but advised if you could find a second hand one in the same colour from a scrappy that would be best and they'd fit it. Shame there is none about in that coloured. Had requested the part on several sites that share it with hundreds of breaker yards. Nothing in that colour
