Tappets or dephaser or me being paranoid ?

Sounds like Tappets on idle all over inlet area. There no noise coming from the cambelt cover area. Been googling dephaser vids and mine aint as loud as them but still sounds tappety.

If any one can upload or email me a vid of there engine with out a worn dephaser idling when it warm would be a great help and would help me stop freaking out. Cheers Carlos

You sound like me worrying about nothing. unless it sounds like an fh12 on tickover, its probably fine. The engine is tappy by nature especially when hot.

yea done the belts and oil leak, didnt have depahser done tho

Check the spark plugs r tight seen loads lose and make a dephaser type noise

It's not the carbon canister ticking is it? I hear that sometimes albeit on a Cup - which evidently it's more noticeable on!

Don't no what the carbon canister is. Yea il check my spark plugs at weekend. I think in general clip sport engines are noisy tho.since I got the car. Things have just been going wrong. Heard some mental rattling from back of car. Go and investigate and the back box bush mount thing has snapped today. So got to add that to my list now. It goes on and on lol. My missis is going sick at me haha

Only could get hold of 600 bucks from bank. They wanted 780 with dephaser. Just couldn't do it. If it goes it goes. Il just have to drive a car that sounds like a diesal for ages till I save up to get it done. Should be ok tho it's on 85k and it was last changed at 72. I just got the bets done cause the bloke that done it before f**ked it up and oil was
pissig everywhere lol

Yea it's a good offer but my fuel to get there would be 70 odd. Then I didn't have time. I think these clios are more money to maintain than any other car I had. Starting to wonder if it's all worth it

There's a lot worse cars out there if you think the Clio is expensive to maintain! Fords are generally cheap though The Mk1 Focus RS is much cheaper to maintain than a Clio RS.

mine is doing the exact same as this and it's worrying me too. When I start the car it there's a 'whining' noise that comes from the engine til it's up to temperature then it ticks like you say.

ye mine has a whinning noise think thats normal cause i had a aux kit fitted few weeks ago. ye it must just be the way the engine taps. its sounds just like my valver

£300 ebay special? Sounds like you've just bought a neglected example needing work done.
Cam Belts are a bit of a hit but otherwise these are cheap cars to run and maintain.
