TC and light adjustment on 172

  172

Does the mk2 172 have traction control? Also the lights shine to far down on the road making it difficult to see whats coming up on country roads (without main beam on) but i dont have the switch to adjust the light level all i have on that panel is a one to adjust brightness for clocks :(

Any ideas?

Danny

Later versions of the MKII 172 have TC.

The light adjustment is automatic as far as I am aware so you do not need to manually alter the light level.

Should have it mate, the cup certainly did. Think it is only imports that dont have it. (talking about beam adjustment not traction control)

Would explain it then as its a import on a 02 reg (Renault alarm and locking wheel nuts though) So ill assume it doesnt have light level thinghy :)

If it has traction control is there a button to switch it of, Traction only really a problem in the wet anyway just curios

I am pretty sure that the imports have the light level adjustment, why wouldnt they ? People sit in the back seats in Europe dont they ????

Traction control would be with the esp, does your car have a switch for esp? Find it on the panel with the dash light adjustment wheel thing! The headlight adjustment is automatic has a sensor on the rear beam. Imports are the same as uk cars so it doesnt matter if its an import car, mine is an 03 and has traction control/esp, and also auto lights, oh and mine is an import.

the lights adjust themselves import or not, all clios with Xenons do.

but "The headlight adjustment is automatic has a sensor on the rear beam. Imports are the same as uk cars"

where is the sensor on the rear beam??

My 172 doesnt have ESP then as ive only got the adjuster for the dash lights :( Was this an option then?

All cars with xenon HID lights are auto self leveling. To adjust the level, pop the bonet and behid the light units are white toggle wheels where you need phillips screw driver allowing you to adjust the height. Find a level surface and park about 25ft away from a wall in front, eg, a multi- story carpark. TWith the light cast on the wall, it will help you ensure the lights are adjusted equally. Dont be temped to adjust too high as youll dazzle oncoming drivers.

any clio with xenons will have auto adjustment headlights. the system has to be set up and you can manually adjust the beam level via the adjuster screw on the headlight units themselves. the beam is normally good though so if you say it doesnt shine far then there is probably a problem somewhere (headlight motor, height sensor etc)

The sensor is just before the passenger side back wheel and is a link from the beam to a potentiometer which adjusts the xenon headlights, it can pop off the beam hence the non adjusting lights. Check this first before you start changing the headlight alignment on the units.
