Technical help please...What's this (or what should it be)?

Tighten My Nuts

ClioSport Club Member
My car's thrown an electrical fit and won't start (thread here).

I traced the problem to a relay (nestled under a plastic cover by the battery and airbox)that's clicking 5-6 times while it flashes the gear-change light once the ignition's turned on.

It's supposed to be in this picture, and should be the same size as the purple one, the same colour as the brown ones, and should be plugged in immediately behind the two brown ones, and would be had I not dropped it into the engine bay while fiddling with it in near total darkness...can't find it anywhere now arrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh.

Lets say it was still plugged in...what does it do? Why is it clicking and flashing the gear-change light?

See when your bouncin the car off the limiter doing burn outs, it tends to come on mark! :clown:

your missing a relay looking at that pic! there's one that goes behind the 2 brown ones (imobiliser from memory, maybe fuel pump)

Drop anything inside a sport engine bay and it eats it, lost a 10mm socket once in my 172 took ages to recover it lol

you should be able to find it, i drop loads of stuff and think "oh crap"

best places to look mark are down beside the battery.

here's what i sudjest you do when i had problems:

disconnect the battery and remove it,

this will give you an area to search for the fuse,

when you find it give the connection a good clean and spray with wd40 even take all the smaller fuses out check them and give them a wipe

remove the tdc sensor thats about your gearbox facing the engine look hard as it can be hidded, unbolt the 2 bolts and give the metal nipple on the end a good wipe and wd40 squirt again, reconnect this.

place battery back in and connect terminals

unlock and lock your car a good few times say 5 atleast

turn the ignition on and wait for the red light to go out then start the car

if this doesnt work it may arise the problem up
