Testing Coilovers

Sorry if it's been covered,but i didnt have any luck finding anything.How do you check a 2nd hand set of coilovers are ok?.i know obvs is leaks,but what else?.good set to ie Gaz etc

Visual check. And if you can compress the dampers by hand, make the all the rates are the same, the move smoothly, and not too easily.

I can see no leaks and one of them has been reconditioned and thats the one im questioning about as when i push the damper down it does not return?
These are a set of Gaz Gha coilovers,rears are all one piece rather than separate damper and springs.

I Keep hearing mixed views,as some say its fine others say its not.Its had recent refurbish tho and from a fella who deals with Gaz has said it should be fine.

If there not coming back it means its not doing its job and just working off the spring

Thats what I thought to,but few people have said there fine so not sure on what to think haha

Just had an email back from Gaz saying that the damper is fine & wont come back as not gas pressurised.So all good!
