That's what the guy from Pentagon told us about the flame Red mk3 at csf years ago. "if you scratch it you can't match it" he said 😂😂.
That guy was talking piss. When I say that orange Renault is unmatchable by 2 different applications I mean it. The owners will all find out at some point. By then they may have a solution.

He died? s**t - when? I used to give him so much grief on passion ford - he spent a diabolical fortune on that and Mark Shead drove it more than him. Shame to hear he has passed as he was such a long term member over there.

Not sure to be honest, must be a couple of years ago I would have thought. He had been ill I think, but don't know the exact circumstances. I had a couple of run-ins with him on there. He could be a bit odd at times, but seemed well liked in real life.

Another guy on pf owns it now, has at least one rapid R35 GTR.

2018! Had terminal cancer. Only met him once, seemed like a nice enough guy

Any clue what it was sold for? Think he had over 200k in it with MA

Think with Rod it was just a case of old school guy meets modern forum, he was a bit of a ledge building that car if you ask me. Certainly loved reading the mags back in the day when I had my Saphs.

The user ‘Scooby Slayer’ on passionford has the car now, thread in project section. Makes 750bhp on pump fuel.

Yeah I suspect you're right. He wasn't afraid to shut people down if he disagreed with them either. It was an incredible thing. No one else got even close to his record with a Saph did they? I think an Escort or two broke 200, but he was a good chunk beyond what anyone else managed.

The new owner has some nice cars. I do hope he and Mark have one last go at Top Speed once it's done.

Back on the classic work yesterday as weather is getting there! Five months since I’ve been out to him and have a long list.

Fuel leak on this, modern fuel seems to be playing havoc with his older car’s fuel systems as been having fuel leaks on everything. New pump needed.

Meant pulling this old banger out. Wish pics did it justice, standing slightly up hill it just look crazy low. We spend a good majority of the day just looking at the details on these cars and talking about them.

You're such a lucky bugger! That's gotta be a pretty satisfying job you have.

It’s not all glamour, he has E type & mk2 jags which I’m no fan of. Old Aston is a pain with mechanical fuel injection too. The older Ferraris are cool though (365/512/308’s) porsches are never much bother.

I work in a garage 4 days now and my boss wants me there more but I save Fridays for working on this collection and other days off or Fridays I’m not there (weather) for servicing watches (that used to be 3 days a week)

It is fun though and we’ve become good friends and I’m on his insurance for everything too.

Couple of spots on a country ramble this afternoon, the Evo was trailered and there was an escort shell behind it, both sat in a barn.

Any guesses? I normally have no issues identifying cars under covers but this has me a bit stumped!

A don't meet your heroes type thing, or does it drive as good as it looks?

I’ve not driven it. It doesn’t go out much let’s say and been off the road for a while. I changed the oil and it went for tank inspection but I’ve still got to do the timing belts before it goes out properly this year. I’m sure he’ll let me have a go when we do get out as he’s put me on the ins and hinted I can. I’m happy to passenger normally but I would drive the f40 as it was always my poster car.

Just being around it and working on it is pretty cool though. Just takes time to do stuff as you have to be so careful. The rear clam is crazy heavy and getting in the engine bay doing stuff feels like it’ll kill you if it fell. And you have to be so aware of your movements, parts aren’t cheap exactly. Crazy cars to look over in detail & to think it was available for the road all those years ago. It just looks and feels like a proper race car with some paint thrown over.
