Yeah that's a Marcos Mantis, definitely a bit of a unicorn. MOT history states it was registered in 1998 and is currently on 8k miles.

Awesome cars, used to see them fairly regularly but can't remember the last time I saw one. They did a racing version that raced at Le Mans I believe

It was absolutely beautiful, the lines/colour were spot on, vaguely remember them mentioned, apologies for the s**t photography!

Wiki says only 51 were made, 16 of them were the GT version with a 500hp supercharged V8.

I think me and my dad used to drive past a place that specialised in Marcos cars quite regularly, hence having memories of seeing these a lot, along with other Marcos cars. I've seen them out and about at places like Goodwood too, but they definitely weren't common even when new.

Edit: wow even rarer than I thought

They used to race them in gt racing had a modified rover v8 to start with but not sure what v8 towards the end but made a few for the road just because

(that's actually the slightly earlier Mantara but the GT racing version of the Mantis looked a bit weak in comparison)

Those and the Lister Storm did a decent job of annoying the German and Italian tat of the day and made them look very plain too.
