Lol, why do turinis literally suit everything
True. Slightly cheaper too. Bonus!Whack a Fabia splitter on there and you'd never notice the difference ?
Perfection - that's how it should have left the factory!Dont forget the Trophy style Decal ?
Mate - thank you very much for following the thread. And thank you for your very kind comments! I'm an absolute b**tard in real life but I manage to get away with it online and sounding half-decent on here! I'm not sure I deserve it but I am very fortunate and will definitely take it! With regards to the Trophy it (the GT4) has rekindled my passion for driving and all-things performance car, certainly helping me to get over the dramas of recent years. Don't get me wrong, I still love the Trophy and it will make me immensely happy to see her back to standard and enjoyed by a new owner. The truth is that I think my missus might actually be interested in it... hmm... will it be staying in the family?I've read and followed this thread throughout it's ups and downs, but haven't really commented.
Although I've never met you, you're obviously a thoroughly nice guy, who completely deserves this STUNNING car!! (It's nice to see someone quite humble!)
Hopefully this will help heel the heartache caused by the Trophy!
Congratulations on purchasing what would be my 'PERFECT' car, and please, please keep the pictures coming!!! That car truly is sexual!!!
Perfection mate - end thread!
I think it's just because they blend in so well...Lol, why do turinis literally suit everything
...see?Lol didn’t even noticed the Turinis
Mate, what are you trying to say?!?!?! It's under Porsche Extended Warranty for at least the next two years so... hmm.Would hate to be the specialist that services this GT4, they'll go under a few months after
One door closes... Thanks Keith! Funnily enough I was in your neck of the woods when I bought the GT4. If it wasn't for an attractive young lady in Lloyds Bank then Porsche wouldn't have got the deposit I promised them and the outcome might have been somewhat different! That's one way to get over the sad Trophy era haha, absoloutly epic. Enjoy Andy
Welcome to the party, and thank you for the kind comment. Yup - you simply cannot beat a set of Turinis!Slightly late to the party, but the Porsche is beautiful! Nice treat for yourself after the trophy’s story/life.
Photoshop with the Turini’s looks mint, not a car they don’t look good on!
Yes mate - enough is enough! When all avenues have been exhausted and you eventually get fed up of p*ssing into the wind... it's just not worth the ongoing heartache, stress and wallet-ache.Looks like we decided to both throw in the towel at the same time!
Kudos too us both for dog eared determination in trying to get both our projects up and running against the massive odds stacked against us for sure.
Though my replacement track car won't be as impressive as yours!!
Now you're keeping the Trophy, would it not make more sense to put the plate from GT4 back onto the Trophy, and source another plate for the GT4? Think that reg is part of the Trophy's 'identitiy'.....
Just a thought.
I was just driving through pontypool and was following a trophy with the plate T444PHY
Glad to see your keeping it, Porsche sounds awesome btw!

Thanks Matt! The replacement engine fired up and it appears to be a good one. New belts, dephaser and water pump next week... I'm sure it will be just fine once back to standard. But it will never be a Lamborghini Aventador...Ah so excited! I’ve got everything crossed for you getting back a reliable car!
Thank you sir As said, I do like a hot-hatch and I do think I would have ultimately regretted saying goodbye to #165. I admit that the arrival of the GT4 helped ease a lot of the negativity I was feeling (probably 99.9% of it) but I'm very much looking forward to slipping back into those Recaro Trendlines in the near future. Cheers - all the best!I'm rather pleased about this. Those three cars will make a great garage and hopefully you'll get plenty of smiles out of it as a standard car - enough to make the bad memories fade away hopefully!
Thank you mate. I'm a sucker for free-revving NA engines and very much looking forward to taking the GT4, Trophy, Type-R and missus out onto some of my favourite roads and giving them a spanking.I'm glad you're keeping it, that will make a cracking stable....
Ha, cheers fella!Nice work
Actually, now you mention it... All joking aside, it would be great to get a bruiser of a cruiser that will just effortlessly glide across continents. Maybe something to think about in the next year or two.Good idea to keep it. I'd swap the civic for a c63 though, a red estate if possible 😂. All requirements covered then and each with their own usp.
No! LOL! You're persistent... It's in a bit of a sorry state at the moment and going in for some work. It looks like the gearbox is just about ready to implode. To be fair it has done very well given the fact it has lasted 135,000 miles and has been thoroughly enjoyed (although, of course, very much looked after). It has had new driveshafts, wishbones, bearings, suspension, springs, etc. recently and drives like new. Well, it did until recently with the aforementioned gearbox trouble. Either way, it will be replaced / refurbed in the coming weeks.Sell me the civic lol
Thanks for the heads-up. Still after some parts?! I should now be in a position to sort them out! No worries if it's too late.A friendly call might persuade them to part with the plate.
Thank you mate. I think I might have actually made a sensible decision for once regarding #165!You REALLY couldn't of sold it after all this Andy ! Great news hope you get it back soon👍
...it's certainly permanently etched into my very mind and fabric mate! At least keeping it means I can (hopefully)Yeah - you couldn't sell it now Andy.
It's been with you through so much and for so long, it's now part of your DNA!
Thanks buddy! I need to get someone to drive it past me so I can hear what it sounds like from the outside. It certainly sounds pretty good from inside the cabin...I was just driving through pontypool and was following a trophy with the plate T444PHY
Glad to see your keeping it, Porsche sounds awesome btw!
I keep seeing that around too!
Hold on, since when have I done sensible where the Trophy is concerned...? I may swap the plate over again, I don't know yet. It depends if I can get a plate at a sensible price - I'm not one to throw stupid amounts of money on anything to do with cars... 🤭Now you're keeping the Trophy, would it not make more sense to put the plate from GT4 back onto the Trophy, and source another plate for the GT4? Think that reg is part of the Trophy's 'identitiy'.....
Just a thought.
I'll give it some thought.Yes that's a must I reckon
Yeah, I do agree Neil. Now I know it's coming home I am really looking forward to seeing it and enjoying it. In STANDARD form! My better half is really looking forward to it as well because she's never had the chance to take it out and enjoy it in all the years I've owned it.Good choice Andy think you would of regretted it long term if you got rid , will make the ideal pairing with the GT4. I was looking at the add for the cheap one on here the other day thinking it would probably be a better option than my track car for all the use it gets.
Cheers mate!Glad you are keeping it
No more mods (other than 'subtle' stuff like brake compounds, fluids, etc)!!!! I can't mod the GT4 as it's under extended warranty (which I don't want to jeopardise) and there's no way I'm even going to consider throwing more money at the Trophy (other than to keep it healthy and maintained). Thanks for following the thread mate.I've been silently watching the your thread for a little while. It's had more plot twists than Game of Thrones!!
Now for the happy ending 😂
Question is which pink car is getting modified first
Once a modder always a modder!!
I have to admit that I haven't driven many big/fast saloons or estates so I'm not really sure what I'd go for. I also think I'd find them a bit boring despite the effortless power they might offer. I'm not really the sort who enjoys burnouts and drifts but test driving a few wouldn't do any harm... especially as I'm getting older and a bit more luxury and comfort would be appreciated!I agree with he who said buy a C63, or tbh any fast saloon/estate car in red, to go with these two.
Problem with finding a plate for the GT4, anything remotely related to Porsche or GT4 will be INSANE money, probably more than the Trophy itself.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to read through the thread - appreciate it! I have to confess I'm a little excited that the Trophy is coming home now and foresee it getting used. A lot! I know my better half is eager to take it out and give it some beans although we are not sure what to do with the EP3 Type-R now. It's still a great hot-hatch and we've just spent a small fortune on it (and more to come with new clutch and gearbox) but I think my good lady is considering moving it on. I don't think I can let it go yet though. That engine and gearbox are still superb. We shall see.Great thread this, I've literally spent hours reading through most of it. It's nice to see you're thinking about keeping the Trophy now. What a combination of cars you have in the household btw!
All the best for the future.
Closer to tripled, mate... big dollar now! Le B*stard is still with Mick as we wait for the last couple of minor items. It is surprising just how many parts are no longer available. That said, the car is approaching 15 years of age... It was due home last month but the aforementioned lack of parts caused a slight delay so it will now be early 2020. I expect it to soon be taxed, MOT'd and then returning home.Been a bit quiet on the trophy front Andy! You know they have doubled in value since the pistonheads list last week right? 🤣 Where's LBR now?
Do it, mate - since you read the last paragraph they have now quadrupled in value... Good luck with the search. It is a mandatory requirement that new Trophy owners take part in the Welsh Weekender as well.Great to hear you are keeping the trophy. Hopefully I will be jumping on the Trophy bandwagon in the not too distant future [emoji6]
Pretty much, yeah! I did say he can use it for a while if he wants to. I'd rather he find any issues / niggles and fixes 'em before giving it back!I heard Mick was using it as a winter beater until he gets something new 👀
Business as usual mate! Seriously, I will have more news very soon.Any updates on this
