Evening folks, sold the Type R (for more than i bought it for in October, a first ever for making more back than buying for!)

Its actually scary how hostile the car market is price wise now, my budget was 6k but after seeing how little was out there, i knew i’d have to up it, i fancied a Megane R26 but seeing how little there was available meant the job was fucked on that front.

Honda’s rust.

Vauxhalls are an indication your hard drive needs inspecting.

BMW - not for 8k you won’t you tubby weapon.

Audi - u focking wot m8

You get the idea.

Enter the Clio 200, owned only by two people, the second owner was an older guy thats an aircraft engineer, absolutely spot on, 57k and belts done last year by one of Scotlands reputable RenaultSport specialists. Scorpion exhaust and spacers of some description are the only modifications i can see.

It has a sat nav < Fvcking LOL. Won’t even go in

Couple of small niggles to be addressed in true Renault fashion;

- The base of the drivers recaro creaks, can this be tightened up, i understand the base comes away separate from the back?
- The radio signal is f**king dreadful, not looked at the back of the unit yet (standard HU?) for the aerial connection?
- The car has keyless but it won’t lock on either of the buttons when leaving the car, unlocks fine?

Anyway, 2 owners and 57k, its in bloody good order given its into its 10th year!

Lovely car!! and nice pics at Hillington (y)

I also used that shortcut next to the motorway to take pics of my car, within 5mins a traffic police car comes flying around the corner and basically tells me to piss off!! "spotted me on the camera's acting suspicious" Taking pics of a Clio at night time in a shady lane is a bit sus I suppose 🤣

Poor Radio reception is probably the aerial base. Easy enough to swap out.

But it looks incredible. And the way N/A hot hatches are going, it’s a solid buy imo.

That looks very nice indeed (y). Door lock buttons are a common failure, at least it opens mine bloody doesnt most of the time🤣. I'm not sure you can get the micro switches seperate for the clio like you can for the megane though. I'ts something I'm currently looking into. The recaro base has 4 bolts underneath. Just unbolt the seat and tip it back and you'll be able to get to them.

The door button issue is common, there's a little micro switch in there that will need replacing

Love the car, glad you got one with a cup spoiler. They look f**king appalling without one!!

Thanks my guy! Aye i was absolutely torn on the Cup spoiler but i actually like it - these motors do not photograph well

Jesus, that looks bloody marvellous!

Cheers Owen!

Nice buy.

Looks a good spec too!!

Cheers Stefan!❤️

Thanks mate! Well spotted! Its my go to place for taking pictures! My last four cars have been sold with pictures taken there! Are you local then?

Thanks Dan! I’ll check the back of the head unit first and rule that out, are the bases easily swapped then?

Does look lovely! Needs the other (Sprint?) spoiler imo but amazing colour.

Did that used to be called an ‘Elia’ spoiler by chance? I think K tec may have changed the name?

Thanks for that mate! Very helpful!

Be interested to know more on the door locking front!

looking good mate!, telt ye you would like it!

My mates 59 plate one had a tiny bit of rust under the rear wiper where the window meets the boot lid, he chanced his luck with Renault under 12 year anti corrosion warranty a couple of months ago as he didn't have dealer service history, went in a few weeks later and got a brand new boot lid supplied and fitted, and they replaced his replica RS spoiler with a genuine one :ROFLMAO:

Excuse my retardation - does that allow me to play my own music through the c**t? Link a brother if its not too much hassle fren x
Jesus sir.

You should own one of these… iPhones normally come with one, if you don’t, just buy one on Amazon

Then you just need a 3.5 to 3.5mm

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B097PYR5DW/?tag=cliospnet01-21

This will be a ‘dumb’ interface, I.e you’ll have to control via the iPhone but it’ll work

Looks tidy, seen it up for sale and can tell its been well loved by the previous owner.

Regarding the creaking recaro, its a common issue on the cs sportster. If the bolts are all tight it will be wear and tear to the subframe.

So is it new subframe time if that is the case then? Thanks mate!

These really are very planted motors when sending it on - not quick by any stretch but then they are fairly lardy over the Mk2’s.

Plan is to get the gearbox out and inspected with the synchros all replaced if thats what it needs - a very slight grind between 3rd-4th higher up the rev range.

Its a £1000 job to have it inspected and sorted including a new clutch (and fluids) so i’ll probably go with SWR in Stirling as they done the belts and are very good at what they do!

About the planted bit…

When I had my first 200 (2010) I did a track day at Silverstone with my mate.
I was in a totally standard 200 Cup, he was in a caged, proper track day 172. He’s a really really good driver too.

We must have done about 12-15 laps, him in front and me behind, there was nothing in it, bumper to bumper the whole day.

Then, our passengers swapped and we went out again. My new passenger said it was like doing the school run! 😂 The 200 was so so planted, zero tyre noise, no brake fade, power steering was nice and easy. He then said my mate was frantic in his 172.

Just shows how capable the newer chassis was/is and how far their development came on.

Then they replaced the 200 with a 1.6 5 door automatic. 🤦‍♂️

It almost hides driver ability like a four wheel drive car does;

To a point where i’m driving naked.

Whilst harder than the crossword in the NewYork times.

Agree with that in regards to the mk2, its just a shame the common issues are so... common - And pricey!

HOWEVER, I still stand by the opinion my 220 Trophy was the BEST RS car I've owned! - it took me a few weeks to gel with it but id recommend anyone who likes an RS to try one, as in buy one and run it for a year - a half hour test drive doesn't give enough time to understand what the car is all about when your coming from the old recipe imo
