The new TV thread

Finally bit the bullet today.

After watching a few reviews and not being any sort of videophile I thought the best option was budget 65" OLED.

Went for the Panasonic TX-65MZ800B, at £999 significantly cheaper than the LG B3 I was looking at.

Then went for the Polk react soundbar that will tie me over for now, I'll replace that in the living room in the sales and move it into the office to replace the faulty Onkyo that I never got round to seeing why the speakers keep cutting out.

Bought our Samsung TV last year (Q80BA 65”) and been a good buy for the price. Sound on the TV was pretty good but always been after a sound bar.

Picked up this Bose setup from Currys at the weekend - first time using surround sound and what a difference. Initially had it connected via bluetooth until I discovered HDMI (eARC), night and day.

Setup is Smart Soundbar 600, Base Module 500 & 2x Surround Speakers.

Somehow convinced the Mrs we need a new TV, specifically OLED... Chucked a load of technical made up stats/words until she caved and said yes.

I plan on playing my Xbox series X on it and the obvious LG C3 comes up a lot. As the C4 is now out, I am hoping to grab a C3 77" for a decent price but they are all over the place for my quick searches... Anyone able to give me a decent price point to aim for or know where the best place and time to look/hold out until?

Parents are needing a new and first smart tv, been onto them about the LG C3 too, didn’t know about the release of C4. What are the differences if any? If can get the C3 really good price get that if it’s same sort of money as C4 may get C4

I've got proper TV envy, but when my 2 year old smears his jammy hands all over the screen, it makes me think twice about properly upgrading as I've got the wife agreeing our cheapo Samsung is sufficient but dark scenes look horrific with ghosting etc

Why sacrifice poor viewing over that reason?

We’ve never had any issues with young kids and TV’s. Also having a glass screen it wipes clean easily. Projectiles however are to be tested. But we have accidental insurance on it so no worries if it does break.

He’s currently pushing boundaries, so will sometimes give the TV a bit of a hit. I’ll probably upgrade it when he’s a year or 2 older.

In the mean time, I’ll just dream of inky blacks 😂
