Things keep going wrong!

  172 Cup, Clio 197
To cut a long story short I've just realised that the rear/right channel on my pioneer 6500r isn't working properly(crackling and quiet compared to the others). I did checks like running the left on thr right output and run the left otput on the right speaker. I would buy a new stereo but this was a gift so i wanna fix it. Is there like any output safeguards or anything for it? I've no idea how this happened, it was fine in my rover 220gti and seemed fine when it first went in my cup, but i put my JBL 6x9s in today after waiting for a spare parcel shelf to come from ebay. Fitted em, wired em up (no power in the meantime nor any shorts) and hey presto, no rear/right channel. Any one got any ideas? Thanks in advance.
PS I don't wanna install an amp and run the rears off that.

seems obvious but you checked balance/fade etc mate? Failing that maybe an internal fuse has gone or something (i'm no techie) lol!

yeah checked the fade thats how i knew it had gone cause when i wired it in i went through all the channels to make sure they were working. Will whip it open on monday and have a look for fuses, but id expect no output at all if the fuse had blown

sounds like you have killed an IC tbh.

not really a fixable part as i'd guess they are a reall pig to get hold of and a pig to fit

  Polo + Micra
yeah intergrated circuit.

there is usually 2 audio IC's in decent HUs one for front and other for rear

had a look in the service manual and theres one power amp ic. I found a replacement part in america for $9+ shipping. So whats the chances it's the ic? cheers

  Polo + Micra
highly likely

if both left/rights had gone id say maybe something else

only one IC:eek: that is going to be a pig to fit

(also could you tell us where from if they do alpine ones)

Right first off you need to get the service manual, cost me £8. Download it and follow it through to the component you think has failed. Then use the "exploded view" and go to its' relevent chart for the part number:

Once you've got the part number go here:

It won't be fitting the IC, i'm an engineer, but there are electrical guru's with s**t hot equipment where I work. He had a look yesterday but couldn't find anything wrong, and he didn't know where to start without the service manual. I'll just take the circuit board and new ic and ask him to fit it. But yeah, it's got about 20 pins so could be a bit of headache
