  A special one.
But a replacement engine and do the belts on it before fitting it or break the car for part's.

It may of been done but not at a specialist, so he may be none the wiser it was maybe bodged. Did it show a receipt?

Best solution is new engine.

Sorry to hear that mate! But to all intent and purpose your engine is dead! Best thing would be to swap the lump and as has been mentioned before replace the belt water pump and dephaser before it goes back in! ;)

Bad times, as above but a 2nd hand engine and do belts and dephaser or break it for bits.

A decent 182 lump is going to set you back around £450-650 less fitting, fluids and belts so, and i'm just playing Devils advocate here, it may be worth looking in to having the head pulled/rebuilt and new belts done as it's probably going to cost less (or around the same at least) as replacing the engine (which *may* have other issues).

As Mick said, possible rebuild would be easier! Saves a lot of hard work and at least if you know whats been done to the engine you would be able to trust it in the future!

Doing it myself mate :) 170 for the valve kit and few other bits below 300;) and tends to bend the valves mate :/
