Well, today was the culmination of a few issues building up over the last two weeks with the 182.

When I spoke to Renault Bury to buy the inlet manifold gasket, they said my car was still outstanding the voluntary recall on the bonnet catch. While it was in there for that, I had the 10-point free inspection on the car, which revealed a few more issues.
So, this morning, this list of jobs were:-
The rear shocks were done first and were straight forward enough - especially with the help of ianeire's guide http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=342259&highlight=dampers . I even had the time to wipe the Redstuff edges clean so that there's the nice bit of red-pad showing through the alloy spokes now.
While at the back of the car, I swapped the brake bulb over and then moved onto the knock sensor. What a little b**ch of a place that is in! Basically taking the injector rail cover off, it was still hard to get to. We ended up removing that alloy brace as well just so we could get to it.
Anyway, that got swapped and as I moved the car on to the street to get it on the ramps, I was slightly pissed to hear that the pinking noise was still there. :dapprove: Clearly it wasn't down to the knock sensor then.
Oh well, on to the rest of the jobs. With the car up on the ramps we looked at the manifold inlet inserts that the Renault technician had said had failed. I'd got the proper replacement kit to hand and as we were looking at what needed doing, dad knocked part of the assembly near the cat. The noise that I thought was the pinking was right there! One side had perished completely and the 'spring' part on the bolt was literally just flapping about as the collar no longer existed. Clearly this same spring was vibrating against the exhaust and causing the noise that I thought was the pinking.
After struggling to get the remaining bolt off which had rusted and corroded to a stump effectively, we managed it and got the replacement kit on in a few minutes. Fired the car up to make sure there were no obvious leaks and then put it down off the ramps.
Finally, we jacked the front end back up to get to the CV clip that had failed. While it was off, I cleaned the inside of the alloy that had picked up a few splatterings of CV boot grease.
And that was it. Several hours, a few scuffed knuckles, a grazed forearm (feck knows how) and fingers caked in grease and other s**t - it was done.
One thing I did notice, was this cable thing hanging down at the front. Any ideas what it is? Just up above it was a section that it looked like it could clip on to. I've put it back there for now - better than hanging in limbo, I guess?
.....which when looked from above, came out from the cluster of tubes, near where the yellow tape is, near the air feed tubing. (I re-cliped that liner back into place as well while I was there ^^^^)
Anyways, on the way home came that wave of 182 love - it feels good to drive again! No knocking at the back from the buggered shock (not forgetting a big improvement in handling) and no pinking noise now that the inserts had been done. It was just nice to have all the little issues of this morning done and out of the way!
A big, big thanks has to go to Chris 'n Nic - both of which helped me enormously in not only getting the right parts, but the right Reno part numbers for them in the first place. Cheers guys - I owe you one big-time! :approve:

So, this morning, this list of jobs were:-
- Replace the CV clip on the nearside front as that had split.
- Replace the nearside rear brake light which had gone.
- Replace the knock sensor on the 182 engine block.
- Replace both of the rear shocks - even though just one was knackered.
- Replace the manifold inlet inserts on the exhaust (that connects to the cat).
