Tom @ JMS + Roll Cage + fabrication / adjustment and powder coat

I Purchased Kev Halls 'Caged' bolt in roll cage a few months ago and decided I wanted a Harness Bar and the Cage refinishing as it had a few marks on it.

After a chat with Tom @ JMS, he took on the job of fabricating a Harness Bar and having the cage refinished (Powder Coated) for me.

I was not sure on what Colour to go and had a few options in mind, Florescent Green, Black, Silver or Anthracite... I basically left it up to Tom how to have it finished and where to mount the Harness Bar.

After a quick Trip down to JMS new workshop (Which is a very nice location and MUCH easier to get in and out of, for those of you who knew the boys old yard ** Watch out for the last speed bump on the way into the new yard if you go down there in a low clio, its a 'Sump Breaker'**) I collected my Cage all finished, with new Bar fitted.

The Cage as fitted to Kev's 182 Clio -

And the Cage as collected from Tom, ready to go into my Silver 172 Cup -

Very Happy with Toms work and would highly recommend them if you need any fabrication / finishing work carried out.

Not sure when ill get round to fitting the cage as its to cold out to be messing round with cars (Yes I am a big Pansy and like my warmth :rasp:) But once its in with new harnesses fitted ill get some photos up.

And a quick photo of the Car just because....

Nice. Seen that a few times, why are the harnesses fixed to the back mounting points and not the ground?!

I may have to PM you Adam / Jenic when it comes to fitting it if I get stuck LOL

Adam, What harnesses are you running?

Its simple if you have left the subframe in. Thats the bit thats a b*****d to fit :(

How will the harnesses secure to the bar, just buy a loop through fastener and cut the ends off the harness?

heres a closer look at the harnesses they are just 2" omp ones i want to upgrade to 3" soon though

the cage is easy enough to fit i did it on my own problem was lining it up as the harness bar have changed to measurements by a few mm's but its pretty straight forward.

Subframes are to be fitted as well, it's never been in my car since Kev removed it from his!

Harnesses as you say above, loop through, looks like Adam has the same set up.

That would be great if you could mate, I have some 'spacers' that I presume go on the subframes somewhere

big spacers go on the rear subframe with the longer bolts, the smaller ones on the front with the shorter bolts.

You need to just nip one side of the subframe piece into the thread, then do the other side, then do a couple more turns so they are in but not tight. Repeat with the other subframe piece. Then fit the cage, which will square the subframes up so you can tighten it all up :)

It doesn't look like it will tighten up at first but once the cage is on it all comes together :)

Do the spacers go between the subframe and mount point or on the 'outside' of the subframe?

Sweet think I have got it straight in my mind, Adam, pics would be useful when you get a mo, no hurry though :)

J, I've got those exact harnesses, they can be wrapped round the bar with no problem.

Be warned though, they have a specific way of being threaded through the buckle that will make mensa seem like the sun crossword!

If you use a Hans device or plan to use one in the future 0 --> -10 degrees is what you MUST have. Just may be something to think about if welding a bar in.
