the site will have the delivery times,i work for halfords, worth the money,i have one, only thing is if it breaks then its a repair if its older than a month, whereas garmin is a straight swap brand new one,tom tom one atm comes with speed cameras until october 2008

goodluck if you have a problem with your mio, they have s**t aftersales service, hence why halfords stopped selling them

I have TomTom one - its great.

If you buy one, register it on tomtom.com and install the latest update for the 'operating system'. The interface is improved, looks better and has more advanced features.

I've just downloaded the latest camera locations for June and got the brand new official maps. Er £32 i think.

I purchased a tom tom 1 two months ago and its a good little unit. I have had some problems though. The map you get isn't the very latest and you won't get that for nothing if you want the latest it's about £40. I agrued that I thought it would have the latest map and John Lewis said they agree, but even they couldn't get it for nowt but refunded me the purchase of the map price from tom tom, what a con.

I still have issue's with the map but they are local back roads so can live with that and have placed map issues on their site.

I got mine for £148 at John Lewis and I think Dixons are doing them for £151

hey mate, also work for halfords! and as he said get a garmin the backup is excellent! its electronic and portable, gets taken out your car and thrown in your bag or the glove box etc etc so if/when something happens garmin are quicker and cheaper to sort things,
ive got a 310d and its great bluetooth hands free etc
if your after just the basic jobbie the garmin 200 is pukka around 170 at the mo i think....
some stores will match internet prices (only off our website but its hit n miss and luck of the draw with which stores do it not strictly meant to do it...)
generally go for garmin....
tomtom are over rated becasue they hit teh advertising hard from the start they got the whole hoover = vacuum tomtom=sat nav...
garmin have more toys on them too

you will get the mapping thats on it from the day they produce it,they cant have it up to date by the time you buy it

agree, cos the minute they put it in the box it will be out of dat cos there are a lot of roads in GB which get rerouted, new ones being layed every day etc.

I am pretty happy with mine, only issue i have is concerning the battery life and the length (or lack of it) of the car charger.

Battery life is 2-3 hours from a single charge, i prefer to mount mine on right of windscreen and the car charger that comes with it isnt long enought to safely reach the unit.

garmin battery life is 6 hours

geordie racer,do a hardwire of sorts, free up your cig and do it so the cable is nicely out the way

north east scotland. Sure it probably is simple enough, but prefer to be able to remove all traces of the sat nav when its not in use. With a hard wire would i not have the cable lying up on the dash somewhere?
just have to learn to look to the left instead of the right when i glance at the Tom-Tom lol

  172
nah hardwires are removeable, mine is,all you do is fit a new cigarette lighter to a new position and then you can just plug your lead in as and when

read my guide in the guides forum

I'd recomend the Tomtom one, cracking little unit, easy to use and been accuarate up to now.

I'd never had one before, and the tomtom one seemed the most complete and user friendly unit on the market for the basics.
