Track geometry settings??

  RS6+ & 40d MSport X5
Going to get the Cup into ProGrip in Larbert for a full track geo setup. Ive heard Fred saying about amounts of toe and camber to get applied. My NSF A048 took a bit of a beating yesterday round Knockhill in clockwise direction.

Looking for recommendations and to see how other members setups differ from one car to another, in relation to how much toe/castor/camber they've had applied.

My setup is:

Bilstein B14 coilovers
Eibach camber bolts
Whiteline RARB
Poybushed FARB

Nothing.

I run 2.2 degrees camber and a little toe out, can't remember the exact amount, 7 seconds or minutes rings a bell

Ah that would explain it knocking the b****cks out the tyres then.

Mines 3 degrees negative at the front, 2.5 degrees negative at the rear and around 10 minutes toe out on the front. It all comes down to personal preferences though. Those settings suit me, but may not suit others.

I told him before to get it set up or be would destroy his tyres, but he wouldn't listen!

I think next year I'm going to add more camber/ toe as its not becoming purely track rather than road aswell!

Mines road driven on those settings and its alright tbh. Bit skittish on bumpy roads but nothing horrendous.

Do I need camber shims for camber on the rear? Probably a daft question but I'm not that clued up on camber etc.

after Sunday I feel I want a little more back end twitchy, not in the wet though!!!

More front camber will give you that, you still knocking s**t out of the outside edges?

Gaz just go for what Mark has got above for a start, you'll need that and more with b14's being so soft. Don't bother with it until you know your cars good mechanically on the front end first though.

Your car doesn't roll to much so you could away with less camber (than mine that is).... have you tried full hard on the back and softer at the front. My car was struggling for turn in Sunday, must have been the cold track as nothing's changed on mine.

I run exactly the same.

-3 degrees camber front, 10minutes toe out
-2.5 degrees camber on rear
rear ARB on stiffest setting
KW V2's

Grips really really well and the tail comes out nicely with a bit of lift off :)

  Whichever has fuel
I always get mine set to 2 deg of neg camber and steering wheel dead straight! lol.

I don't bother with all this toe/castor boll0cks. That's for people who A) know what they're doing and are always at the cars limit every track day or B)Care more about forum chat than they do about learning to drive properly.

Well Colshe, I don't drive the car much, but when I do, it gets nailed LOL.

i believe geometry settings are an individual taste once you start dialing yourself in to the car, what suits one person wont suit another.
my toe settings are set to factory, ive tried a little toe out and just find it suits me more comfortably being as per factory.
my camber settings currently are 2.8deg negative on the front, and the rear is not touched as i havent got as far as changing the beam over as yet.

im running AST's, Pure top mounts and brace, pure lower arms, poly dogbone but standard refreshed engine mounts (all 3) and a white line rear ARB.
currently, it suits me perfectly, or atleast it did the last time i had the car out.

That's probably why you think a ford focus is a great car ;)

Several things will aid turn in , toe out on the front , slight toe in on the rear . increase in caster will help , softer front that rear , but what you really need to look at is tyre temps all round and what the pressures are doing to see what course of action to take.

Wear on the outside edge as the OP has a problem with will no doubt be camber , but also might be that its too soft

I tried adjusting the camber bolt but the change was minimal. Not to worry, John @ ProGrip will work his magic on Wednesday!

  RS Clio 172 Cup
Ive just bought a 172 cup and set my geometry to 0 toe -2.25 camber front and havent touched the rear yet as was in a rush and couldnt be bothered with all the shims etc since I will be changining the suspension v soon anyway and needed to get it set up for a Sprint today. Rear was measured at -1.25 degree camber as is.

Got Gaz suspension front which is knocking and creeking and Raceland rear which surprisingly seems okay.

I was very impressed with turn in and general handling. Going by tyre wear and general handling it seemed a good setup. Interesting therefore to read this thread and hear most people are adfing a lot more camber for track.

Whats the best way of getting camber on the rear? Shims?

Sprints usually are kind to tyres (venue dependant)

The cars that are running more camber will be racecars or out and out track cars (so pushing a bit harder than yourself..I'm guessing) or have soft suspension (my car)
