Sold my TT last week and decided I either wanted a 172 Cup or a black PH1. Ended up buying the below on Saturday.

2001 Y reg
59k with FSH, belts done a year ago.
HPI Clear
Toyo Proxes all round with 7mm tread.
Taxed and MOT'd

I've since given it a clean/wax and she has come up very well. Swirls in paint work but could be much worse.

Needs an arch liner and stereo, I've fitted a Sony CD player for the time being.

Pictures arn't the greatest, will take some better ones soon.

So review on the TT?

Ph1 looks good.

I enjoyed owning the TT, well apart from the outstanding finance issue that was covered in general chat a couple of months ago. It was quick, refined, well made, the interior was a very nice place to be.

But if I'm honest I thought the best place for a TT was on the motorway. It would keep up with a 172 on the B roads but would probably be doing half the mpg of the clio whilst doing so. But at 100mph on the motorway it felt smooth, quiet and like it wasn't really trying. At that speed in 6th gear it would probably be doing more to the gallon than a 172. My commute to work is 12/13 miles of mainly B roads, no motorways.

I hardly ever took the TT out for just a drive, in my opinion a 172 is much more fun.

In terms of looks though, you can't get a better looking car than the TT for the money. Might be seen as a bit of a gay car, but at the end of the day I don't think you could get another car for less than 6k that would influence a "ladies" decision to take her pants off quite so much as a TT.

Are you thinking of getting one Gally?

Lols I was looking at your one! I forgot it was you with the S8 wheels!

Yes i'm looking at getting one, this year it was 182 vs FRP but I know realise how cheap the high mileage TT's have got so :)

It was advertised at £2000.

I'm going to run it for a month or so before I start making any changes I think.

Sounds like a bargain :)

I do like my tt, but I have to agree with what you said in your 'review'.

I'm similar to you, don't actually drive a huge amount and when I do it's pretty much b road blasts, the tt isn't very rewarding in that sense.

But like you say, on the motorway is where it comes into its own. This weekend I had a fairly long motorway drive and I must admit it was a nice place to be, the heated leather seats are a nice touch.
Managed to see off 2 scoobs that thought they would sit on my rear bumper/try to undertake too ;)

Nice one! I paid similar for mine but it has 97k on it (FSH with belts done etc though). So looks like you got a bargain! I found that changing all 4 dampers and putting sportlines on made a nice difference. Just made the car that little bit tighter and it also takes the edge off the height too!!

Although at 59k your suspension will probs still be ok.

Have fun!

EDITED: Just checked out your last few 172s and they are mint. You obv have taste!

Cheers Dave.

I lowered both my other 172's on Sportlines, was really impressed with them for the money.

Up to 60 I wouldn't have thought there was much in it. Above that and the TT would probably have the edge, above 100 and the clio would be fall behind quite a bit I would have thought.

Clio is more fun.

I'm sure it is! Have you done anything to her? You'll have to get some pics up.
