Well this is unexpected! I've provisionally sold the car now just as its 99% finished. Got to sort a few bits for the new owner as its staying Class F now in the Tricolore Series so new suspension bits to go back on, door cards to source and fit and rear beam bushes to change then, fluid change, spanner check and shakedown before its first race.
Got to find myself a working race car shortly, having withdrawal symptoms!

Well it's all finished and going to it's new owner tomorrow. Will make its debut at Rockingham next weekend in the Tricolore series. There's a possibility I might get to share the car in the CSCC Tintop series later in the year too which will be fun.
It saw the light of day last weekend for the first time in ages.

Looks so much better with a fresh set of black insert headlights. Got the suspension put on aswell. Cup dampers and springs again to meet Class F regs.
Had it at the workshop the last couple of days to finish off a few jobs.

-Oil and filter change + gearbox oil change
-Rear beam bushes changed to powerflex
-braided brake hoses fitted and fluid changed and bled
-Wheel alignment
-Full spanner check and general check over.

All finished.

Looks great Russ, you're welcome to use the car with Glen at Donny. I might use it a Oulton with Ged in October if I can wait that long. The other option is for Glen to take the 197 to you for its next stage of development and I will race the 172 at Thruxton & Brands.

Bit of an update. Back after a long weekend racing with the guys in the CSCC Tin Tops series at Donington Park. Had a great weekend with both Clios, both back in one piece! I even got to share the driving in the 172 which I'd never driven in anger, really enjoyed it and went far better than it had any right to with standard engine, gearbox and suspension etc. a 1.25 lap in the race was our best lap. The 172 qualified 20th out of 31 with the 197 behind in 27th after an interrupted quali.
Managed to bring the 172 home in 13th overall and 2nd in class B with the 197 just behind in 15th and 3rd in class.
Looking forward to Oulton Park with CSCC in a few weeks. Few pics and complete race vid below, I drove first with Glen 2nd, excuse the tentative start!

Not yet mate, all depends on the calendar. Can see me picking and choosing between series, still want to give the hot hatch series a go. Might do a couple of rounds in the CSCC Tintops if there's a car available but probably won't do it in my 182.

A great weekends racing at Mallory Park this weekend in our old 172 Class F car kindly loaned to us by a customer. Mallory is somewhere we've never been before but would certainly go back.
Couldn't get access to the paddock until after 6pm due to a previous meeting so was getting dark when we set up and extremely windy!

Mixed conditions all weekend with a damp/drying qualifying saw us 2nd in class after a gentle run getting used to the track and traffic!

Race 1 and all dry, or at least it was until we were sat in assembly area and then came the rain, torrential! Everyone on dry tyres and panicking! 2 green flag laps before gridding up didn't really do much to calm the nerves either. Started 8th and managed to pass 3 cars off the start with a move around the outside of turn 1 and managed to get on the back of the front 4.
Had an awesome battle with Tony Hunter in his class A 172 but just didn't have the legs to past. Finished 4th overall and first in class.

Race 2 and a mixed grid so started 16th overall on combined quali times. Just seemed to be carnage from start to finish and the 20mins went in a flash. Lost a wing mirror straight off the grid which kind of set the tone for the race, hard racing and mostly fair. Had a touch with Andy Ibberson at the hairpin while looking for the class lead which was unfortunate but all good. Car had good pace in the dry with a 55.4 second lap nearly 3 quarters of a second faster than anyone else in class. Had a great race with Ash in the class E Clio and a vx220. An oil spill at the end meant a massive moment and was glad to see the chequered flag to be honest. Finished 12th overall and class win again so pretty happy. Car was faultless and such good fun.

Race 1 video From Mallory at the weekend, camera ran out for race 2 as we were held in assembly for so long so only recorded the first lap which is a real shame.
