Turbo - my initial opinion

  Lionel Richie
It's not only their road that's Mickey Mouse. Fred is on record singing their praises. That kind of undermined his credibility in my eyes.

i wouldn't call it "singing their praises" jack, i've always respected the work that i've seen and gone up against, and Andy and the boys are nice chaps. that applies to other companies also

power claims, and other peoples problems with their work are of no concern to me, its none of my business (although i do sympathise with those who have/had problems)

personally , i'd love a clio turbo and obviously dave does , true about the rolling roads etc , but sure he knows it aint shy

Yeah nice chaps until you try and tell them their wrong and thats when they turn nasty! ;)

This is getting fun.:)

Anyway, I bought this car accepting things will go wrong with it. While its working it is a fooking rocket ship.:rasp:

Obviously there are faster things on the road, like the biker that got a bit of a shock when a little old clio nearly kept up.lol.

Yes Dave 8k! Thats roughly how much bb tuning charged for their turbo conversion(notice i said CHARGED, as they now no longer operate as a workshop, just an online parts shop!).
That is why i could never stretch to paying that much.

I guess i paid around 2500 for all the work over a standard car.:)

List of toys in car:

clifford allarm with remote start
RAC trackstar
shortshifter
braided lines all round
bleuflame exhaust
samco coolant pipes
turb conversion
header tank
polishing in engine bay
and more i havent discovered yet i'm sure.

The dealer gave me 250 as the tyres and brakes are shagged, and 50 quid for petrol in my hand.

As far as the numbers go, even if there are a few repairs to do this is a bargain.

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
£8k ???? thats a lot of money for what they actually do - be careful with the box .... they last 2 minutes in them

  R35 GTR
Is that if you do hard gear changes? or just down to the extra torque, as I dont want to race round in it, I wont be hammering the gearbox.

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
Its the torque that creates the problem - the JC5 129 box struggles with the standard F4R lump with 172 bhp. You can get the boxes strengthened for around £400.

I did get the chance to go out in it when it was down BB and it is very quick but if you took it to have a power run I don't think it will be making
that power and be as smooth as it shows in that graph.

  2LTR 16V TURBO CLIO!
last minute midlands meet!!!!!!!!! just to see daves new car!! ;);)

Id be game for this i have the same conversion on my williams and will hopefully have it runing then!

might be in wolves on the weekend, well now i found out its a bank holiday on monday I can fit in the 3 things i wanted to do in 2 days.lol.

Fred if you could have a gander at a few quirky problems i have I would be a very happy bunny.:)

Just things like clutch is squeeky if you give it gas in reverse, its fine if you use the biting point. It gives an almighty kick when it does this, i think the clutch might be uprated hence it wanting to bite harder. If you get what i mean.lol. I hope I'm right. Not had chance to get full breakdown of work done on the conversion.

Been to get exhaust welded and oil changed and bits and pieces. Clutch seems normal.lol. Apart from the noise. Main thing is it works for now.:)

Fair play for buying a heavily tuned car like this.

I would like to see a 0-100 speedo video to get an idea how quick it is.

Just as a warning. it wont be that quick as my sub is back in the boot, with amp and other bits n pieces.:)

hehehe.

I can empathize with Dave's enthusiasm for his new Clio, and am coming to the conclusion that the best way for big/reliable power is forced induction.

Nowadays there's BB [boot in the baws] and K Tec. Their engineering credentials I think are not outstanding.
Ktec used a Mexican turbo kit but changed loads of the bits I don't think anyones in a position to say them of BB have no engineering credentions.

A for the way to big power its expensive and its the other bit ie clutch and gearbox which fail.

  BMW Z4 3.0i
the warranty will still apply for the shocks i would have thought, just the engine, clutch gearbox etc wouldn't.

plus dont tell them its turbo'd, they clearly wont know its been done!

I wonder if you took a throttle-bodied car in for a service, whether they'd still try charging you for a new air filter? ...probably!
