Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Am playing the odd bit of multiplayer, its not bad at all, quite fun, but doesn't have the pull of an FPS, Haven't actually played past the 4th level on the sp as been hammering demon souls!

Bloody hell. This game is really REALLY good. The graphics are awesome, but the gameplay is what impresses. I'm about 50% through so far.

I've heard you don't really need to play the first one, anyway, but for a few storyline indications of what the f*ck is going on.

you dont NEED to play the first first.

BUT there are a few points in the second that will have 0 effect on you, where as if youd played the first you would be more like OMFG HELLO!!

there are a few references to the first game, that you will think.....wtf? why did he say that. (if youve not played it)

imo, you can pick the first up for less than a tenner, and its not long to complete, just blast through on normal difficulty

If you can afford 275mm wide tyres, you can afford Uncharted. It'll make the experience of playing the sequel that much better, as you'll already be into the characters and the background history. The story lines themselves are pretty much throwaway anyway, though.

Who said I can afford 275mm wide tyres? I haven't paid for a thing since I bought that car, other than MOT and petrol

Saying that, I've just been reading the reviews of Uncharted, and didn't actually realise how good it's scored.

uncharted defines what a series should be.

first is amazing.
second is all the things the first was, and wasnt. so is more amazing.

and yes, a ps3 can be justified just from either of these games. easily.

The major improvement for me in Uncharted 2, is that the gunplay is a lot more serious. It almost feels like a hardcore PC shooter at times, whilst still maintaining the excellent adventure theme afforded by the third person view. It's a truly stunning piece of game design.

Well I'll only be playing the single player on this, so multiplayer is a non starter.

Ocarina of Time was the previous best. It probably still is.

No matter, Uncharted 2 is good enough to make you consider it the best when playing it. It starts to kick off after around 30%, after which, every single level is good enough to be the last.

Play it, the first one was only marred by the endless stream of enemies but that was all. It is an excellent game. 2 is improved x10.

Agreed. The first game seemed almost hampered by the combat, as it was endless and quite frankly a chore at times. The sequel has addressed that. Although theres probably more combat, it's much more enjoyable. Another difference is that the gymnastic avenues of progress are far less obvious, and are more naturally integrated into the environment.

I'd still recommend a newcomer should play the prequel first, but they should know that the 2nd game fixes everything that was wrong with the 1st.

EDIT: The sequel also looks a LOT better, and the original was no graphical slouch.

Multiplayer is well worth a bash Scutch its not up there with MW2 but its still a lot of fun and was quite addictive for a while, it also has a 'horde' mode which was fun.

Another 'criticism' of '1' is the twist at the end and those bloody zombie things!

I didn't play the first one before this and it's still my fav game of the year. Easily GOTY. Sctuch, I promise you, you will not be dissapointed. If you don't like it you should be shot into the sun holding a small yellow frog.

I'm getting Uncharted 2 for Christmas with a PS3. I haven't played the first.
I have - and thoroughly enjoyed - Assassins Creed 2 for the XBox 360. I haven't played the first.
As for Modern Warfare, yeah I've played them all.
