Upper and lower plenum compatibility

Ive got a Upper plenum (the bit that says renault sport on) from a ph1 172.
ive got a lower plenum from a 172 cup

Are these compatible? and what will they fit?

lower manifold will bolt to any 172/182. The plenum has a range of differences through the years. You could probably make most things fit and work with the right tools but mostly it's just worth getting the correct one for the year

so will the ph1 upper plenum only fit a ph1 172, and will it fit all ph1 172's?

The breather setups differ iirc across them all.

Thought it was only when you went into 182 stuff that things went different in terms of breathers and other casting differences?

The bottoms different for sure not too sure about the top. Breathers different between 172 and 182 but not sure about the old 172 vs new.

the bottom is different in the fact the casting improved later in the life of the engine, but all will physically bolt on

What do you mean ?

Is it a case of the 172's breather pipe being too short to reach the breather port on plenum ?

If so couldn't you extend the breather pipe a bit to reach ?

This wouldn't cause an issue would it ?

Aint i just one less thing to bolt on/plug in ?

Or is the a hole in plenum for it that will be open if not there (sorry if its sounds silly, i aint clued up on Ph1's)
