If the pipe is snapped just before the rear box IIRC there's just one rubber mount holding it up, undo the bolt that goes through the centre of the rubber mount and pull the box off.

ta mate... will go look now :D

if you cant get it off that way then undo the two nuts that hold the bracket/mount to the studs in the boot floor and take the lot off then you can seperate the mount from the back box once its off the car.

^^ what he said, but to be honest mate you will find that due to the extra weight of the magnex you'll need to improve the mount anyway. PM for pics of mine and I'll take some at the weekend.

What's the best way to strengthen the standard 172 rubber mount? Mine needs firming up!

Mr AA man just pulled the whole bloody lot off when my exhaust broke off, not sure how though, only took him 5 minutes!

the Renault mount is far too flimsy and will not support the exhaust properly. The thing to do is unbolt that mount from the car altogether, take a knife and cut the rubber mount out, go to halfords and for a couple of quid ask for a Ford (IIRC) fitment type rubber exhaust mount, this is MUCH more supportive and solid than the Renault one, (basically its like a huge solid rubber block with four small holes in it). Re-fit this back into the mount using epoxy resin and a series of cable ties etc for extra strength. This is what I have done with mine, it doesn't budge an inch and sits perfectly level now its been refitted.

well long story but went to the gym (bout 30 minute ride) and back wheel fell off on the way back hence a 2 hour walk and no time...

this is my 'revised' mount. Ford Fitment rubber support, epoxy resin'd in place and cable tied either side. Tighter than a ducks @rse.

oh and rubber bits top and bottom looking at the pic. You can see the difference between that and the original 'X' shape rubber Renault mount.

nice one ;) getting the twin then?

they can be all dangly as there are two rubber mounts they can use, a bigger one and a small one. I also had to cut 10mm off cat flange (oh er  ) to where it sleaves into the centre section as the whole exhaust stuck out too far, but like you said make sure your happy and don't get fobbed off
