V Maxx coilover height on 182 cup

  CLIO 182FF
I have recently fitted V Maxx coilover kit to my 182 cup, the front you can lower to an undriveble height which i am not looking to acheive, but the rear even on the lowest setting is no lower than it was when it was standard. V maxx claims on its website that you can lower the rear from 30mm to 60mm! has anyone else found this? If you look at the V maxx website there is a picture of a really low clio, was that done with their coilovers, maybe not !

Are those the rubber pads under the original spring? If so i have removed the ones under the bottom of the rear springs and fitted the spring adjusters.

picture of the rear springs please. They changed the design/spec as there were some reported issues with a batch, and I think the replacement springs were a bit longer

My Vmaxx rear springs which I bought about 3 months ago are f**king shocking. So soft and s**t I ended up buying some new rear springs. Emailed Vmaxx and heard nothing back.

Thats my next port of call going to speak to V Maxx see what they say, will post some pictures shortly.

you need to speak to the people you bought from. Vmaxx have a UK distributor and all issues have to be dealt with through them

I spoke to K-tec and they said they were going to contact them for me, last I heard from K-tec they were still waiting for a response and I still haven't heard anything two months later. I have new springs now which I'm going to fit this week to resolve the issue.

call again

Think I shall, shocking that kits are still being sold with s**t rear springs. Anyway weight in the back at all and the rear springs fold down into each other and clonk like there's no tomorrow. When I wanted to raise the rear I moved the adjusters and instead of raising the car the springs to compressed more lol.

you can't tell if they're wrong until they go onto a car unfortunately. Not sold or fitted any for ages to be fair so I've only sorted out issues that other "specialists" couldn't, and I'm not sure on the age of the kits

Pics as reqeusted Dan@519, as you can see ride height about the same as it was standard. I will take some photos of the springs when i get them off:(. O/S is a touch lower but both adjusters set the same.

Those are the replacements for the faulty batch. They're a bit longer but fix the knocking entirely.

Just spoke to the place i bought the kit from, he is aware of a problem as he has had the same complaint from other customers, as you said Dan there was a problem with the first lot of springs being to low so they have just put longer springs in the kits, where is the R&D seems like its the customer that does it!

Where do you get replacement springs from? Is it you Danny?

Mine are like these and that's I think is my knocking noise as I have home made solid exhaust mounts.

Sorry for the hijack, jim

No probs mate, have you checked the distance between rear axle & rear silencer box, ive put a scorpion on & its close to the rear axle, when i go a bit lower i might have to move the rear silencer back.

Yeah it seems I've got quite a bit of clearance there. It didn't do it when I 1st put them on, only the last couple of months. And it only seems to do it in uneven roads or bumpy b-roads, not motorway roads.

Thats your problem mate, when you hit a bump the top of the spring hits the chassis. I had a similar problem with an RS cosworth i had. Also noticed you havn't got the rubber liner between top of spring & chassis, that might add to the problem.

boy that looks really awkward! those springs just aren't right! I'd get H'R 's or other if V maxx won't be of much help

Mine sit the same, Vmaxx and K-tec haven't got back to me about the issue so decided to change them out myself, here's how mine sat:

Well that was before, this is now, just spent half an hour putting some different rear springs in and its perfect! I can now adjust the rear properly and carry people in the back without it scraping its arse.

Where did you get the other springs and platforms from?

Did you experience any knocking on the previous springs?

I purchased them off of a member on here, they are Raceland/K-tec rear springs. I have been in contact with David at K-tec today and he has managed to get in contact with their Vmaxx supplier who I have emailed and they are going to send me out some vmaxx replacement springs. So depending what they are like i'll have either the raceland ones or the new vmaxx springs for sale in the coming week.

And yes, I noticed knocking when going over larger bumps of if I had someone sat in the back.

Cool. Could I have 1st dibs on you selling either spring once you get the news ones?

As for the knocking I'm not sure what it is but if you've changed your spring and the knocking has gone then the finger does point at our more cimpressed spring.

Cool. Well would you be interested in selling the alternate spring once you get the news ones?

As for the knocking I'm not sure what it is but if you've changed your spring and the knocking has gone then the finger does point at our more cimpressed spring.

I believe the knocking to be where the spring compresses into itself the coils catch each other. Now I have the springs out you can see where have rubbed on each other. And yes, I shall let you know once I have the other springs mate. Where did you buys yours from??

Thanks :) I got mine second hand off a member on here when they was 1-2 months old a year ago. He was meant to send me the invoice but I never received it, so i guess I can't do the same thing you have with regards to the replacement.

I haven't got the funds to buy a new set of coilivers but this knocking is really getting on my t!ts.

Hello mates,

I just installed a v-maxx coilover kit and I have the same problem. The rear springs are fully compressed. So the only solution is to replace them? It is a new coilover kit and I won't be so happy to buy new rear springs because of v-maxx mistakes...

Interesting... but my banging noise comes from both sides left and right but not in the same time. The shocks are new.. only 3 weeks on the car.

I think its a bad batch. When I phoned up vmaxx it took ages to sort out. I had 2 knocking rears, which were replaced and still knocked and a leaky front. All from new and less than 1000 miles and 2 months old.

I'd be speaking to the supplier if the knocking persist. I take it there was no knocking before the coilovers were fitted?
