It is nice, 216bhp = 28% increase in power, But I would rather have my V6 with a 28% increase in power (322bhp) than a cup with the same 28% increase....
....but this V6 Verses other Clios is very boring, I doubt that V6 owners would want to downgrade to a Willy or a cup and I doubt that Willy owners could afford a V6 255....

Depends on the track to be honest. Brands Indy maybe (but didnt happen last month). Proper track like Spa? Muuuhahahhahaha
The thing is, Simon, my mates Westfield cost him £2000 (1989 chassis with Escort GTI engine from 1998) and has 135 bhp & weighs a tiny 500kgs. It is like lightning around a track, but how many of us spend any real time on a TIGHT RACETRACK? This track thing is nonsense. Yes, I love the occasional track day, but as with anyone else, it is OCCASIONAL.
We have road cars, not racers.
The V6 is in a different league to any 4-pot Clio.
(Since I also own a car with over 400bhp, it is not a case of being up my rear either, the Clio V6 is just a great car and contrasts nicely with my other drive).

But they are also way more experienced, rather than the new Garry-boy on the block.

how many current V6 owners have had a Williams? (a few Im guessing - me being one of them)
how many current williams owners have had a V6? (not many, unless you have both Im guessing)
How many v6 owners would swap their car for a Williams, no matter how much mods & performance improvements the williams had got on it? (I doubt youd find 1 taker)
How many highly modded williams owner would swap their car for a V6 (please form an orderly queue and no pushing to the front please)!
Dont get me wrong, I "LOVED" my williams. I had it for 3 years & 100,000 miles near enough, and punished it HARD and it never let me down, and gave me smiles I still remember to this day. However, would I swap my vee for a Williams? No. Would I swap it for a 250bhp Monster Williams which could beat my 0-60 times, and blast past me on every bend? Err, still no.

The V6 offers a certain something no 1993, 150 bhp, 2-litre 4-pot ever could. Not just the performance gulf.
A 2005 Fiesta ST150 will do everything a Williams can. In fact it has better wheels and brakes.
The ST would look stupid up against a V6 Clio.

Any comparison has to be as standard cars.
Standard Clio V6 2004 versus standard Clio Williams MK1 1993.
DOH...I wonder which one most car enthusiasts would prefer as a present (to drive, not sell.)

Quicker, faster, better looking, better sounding, more valuable, more character and will be more collectable in future.
I have a theory actually on the 16v/Williams/172/182 owners v/s Clio v6 owners.....
Like others have said - own a Cosworth and ALL fast ford owners offer you respect, same goes for Lotus Carlton etc. Thats because with those marques there is fierce rivalry between makes... i.e. ford owners would NEVER own a vauxhall, and vice versa, so everyone sticks together.
Ive been on BOTH sides of that fence having had a string of fast fords (including 2 cossies) and also some fast astras, and I said the same to them, as I say to anyone on hear who disss on the V6 - never say never, and dont form an opinion til youve driven one.
The difference with Renault onwers (it seems to me) is that theres not such fierce rivalry with other brands, not even Pug or Cit (save for one or two occsional remarks), and instead the renault owners are more likely to attack each other than stick together.
I hate to say it, but having been fairly active in Renault, Ford & Vauxhall owners forums, this one seems to have the most disagreements between members than any others Ive found.
Guys, we all drive Renaults - we all love some or all of them. I think were all agreed wed rather be in our Clios than Saxos or 205/206s, so lets stick together and promote ALL the clio sport models, irrespective of age, engine or no. of cylinders!
I for one would still happily go out and buy a 1991 Clio 16v if thats all I could afford, and I would still love it... just wouldnt be choosing to swap my vee for anything right now, except maybe a mk2 vee!

will someone tell these non v6 owners that no matter how much you sl*g the cliov6 off on here the value of them will not go down anymore!! u will just have to keep saving im afraid!!! U ALL NO IM RIGHT!
To balance things out here a little (what AM I saying!), give me the choice of a Ford, Vauxhall or Toyota sports hatch from the mid-90s, or a Williams and the Renault wins hands-down. Give me a Williams MK3 please, my favourite version.
It towered above the likes of XR3i, Astra and Corolla, for me.
I had a Honda NSX in the mid-90s so was more than happy, but as a fast hatch, only lately has the game moved on sufficiently to leave the Williams behind.
BUT, move on it has and the likes of the new Astra with 240bhp or the Golf GTI with a very useable 197 bhp would leave it for dead, as would a 2004 V6 Clio.
