Went to see this car today, and bar a little dink in the bonnet its pretty mint.
My issue is it has no receipts or history stating that either the aux or cambelt has ever been changed in the life of the car, although it was serviced, mainly oil and filter, by the same garage yearly/10kmiles from 2005 to 2013.
Ive gathered that i should be looking at around £700 for the cambelt kit and having it changed at a specialist and with the mileage the dephaser may become an issue so would be worth doing at the same time, also with no evidence of a clutch change this may also have to be factored in.
Would you advise me to simply carry on looking elsewhere as the potential maintenance work on this car will be seeing me well past £3000.
Thanks

Did you get the name of the garage, always worth giving them a call and see if they keep a record of work carried out.

The car is up for £2300 bud, i was adding in the additional work i feel it will likely need for the £3000 figure.
Ive just reviewed the MOT history online and it has failed nearly every MOT so far with only the most little possible work done to get it passed so i think ill be giving it a miss and keeping my eyes peeled for better examples.

Keep looking! Friend of mine Just got one of a similar spec and history for £1400. I wouldn't touch it for that money personally.

I factored in the imminent cost, ~£3k.

You would have to get all that work done, so for the same price, in fact maybe even a bit less, you would be able to get a better example, both cup packs, stainless exhaust (the standard would need replacing eventually because they rust and rot) & belts recently done or not needing to be done for 2-3 years plus.

MrTom - I like Arctic, in fact I like most RS Colours, but I think Arctic, BG and Titanium can't demand the same premium as LY, Inferno and RB, just simply because of supply and demand, and the latter three just being a bit more standout.

Done well any colours look good; your Arctic is perfect, Lawro's titanium is stunning, and Arran's (I think formerly Jekyll's?) BG is incredible.

Thanks for the information, ideally i do want a RB or inferno, this viewing was simply the closest car to my house and to get a feel for the cars and try to gauge further knowledge on what to be on the look out for in future viewings.

I'm looking to buy a blue 182 as well, and i just saw your comment and was wondering if you could tell me how you've done that ?

I googled checking MOT history online and it comes up with a website, but apart from the registration i'll also need a V5C or some other number, did you have those for that car ?

Hi mate best to ask the seller for the mot number should be at the top of the most recent mot certificate, use that and the reg and then you should be good to view it all on the gov website.

It's £2300 before haggling ;) you'd have to be mad to pay someones asking price.
