I re-signed last week via the website.
Was paying around £56 I think for M500, Mega TV (TNT Sports & Eurosport), telephone and an O2 sim over 18 months.
The new deal is £42 a month for the same, but with no mention of the O2 sim, as that is paid for separately direct to O2, so going to cancel that once everything has gone through.
We've never used the O2 sim, it was just cheaper to have it when we last signed up. So hopefully cancelling it doesn't affect the above.
I would have left to be honest, but it was the cheapest deal where i got TNT and Eurosport by a mile, and i wanted to keep watching the MotoGP, WSBK, and UFC.
Cancel, wait 48 hours, enjoy your old price. Just done it myself last month. That time of the year again for us been paying £57 but now they want £74. Tempted to go elsewhere entirely. Anyone had much experience with BT broadband? Just weighing up my options to go broadband only. I do currently have tnt sports package added on which is something I want to keep hence considering BT.

You can get the early disconnection fee back.I'm going with the BT deal I think. Plan on moving next year and we likely know where we are moving to already and they don't have virgin in the area so would have to pay out the contract. Let's see what a f**k about this is going to be now 😞
Moving outside our network area, but still within the UK? It’s possible to be credited back your Early Disconnection Fee. Just provide us with some valid evidence of your new address, we’ll check it and get back to you within 30 days. The value of your Early Disconnection Fee will then be credited to your account.

Yeah, it used to be 24 hours so I was getting a bit twitchy after 36 hours. They rang after 2 business days.I need to renew mine now as it’s gone up to £67 for just the 500mb bb. Did they call you back after the 48 hours? Knowing my luck they would just say see-ya and stop my internet.
had a similar experience a month ago. The "specialist" team gave me a worse offer than the first person and said I couldn't take the original offer once I'd declined. Can't wait to move once another provider is available.Phoned the normal customer service number to see what they would offer before I start threatening to cancel.. it was bold of them to ignore half the package I have now and give me a number about a quid more than I pay. Then when I reiterated the kind of package I wanted, she added 20 quid onto the renewal price even the website quoted. Madness.
Guess I need to phone cancellation instead. If I tried to sell like this I'd be sacked 😂
Exactly the same as me a few weeks ago, went up to £120, phoned them, can get the same deal from Sky for £60 a month, a women rambles on for 10 mins saying i can do it for £110.00, no thanks, or i can add this and it will be £125.00, why would i want that, 10 mins later i say look you can't help me so i want to cancel my contract please, ok sir hold on let me put you through to out cancellation team, guy comes on, what's the deal you have seen, £60.00 with Sky, i can do that same deal but with better broadband for £66.00, yea that will do, didn't really want the arseing about of swapping anyway.just noticed that our VM bill has nearly doubled so had a look and our contract was coming to an end. So the usually merry-go-round starts.
Rings them up
a lady comes on and tells me to log onto my VM account. Hidden in there is an renewal offer from VM for the current bundle at £90. Still £5 more than a new customer but s**t loads better than £124.
- current contract £84 (new customers can also get this package for £84)
- guy offers me same contract that he says should be £184 but he can reduce it to £124 for me.
- he then says he can reduce it to £100 if I take the free O2 sim (we've had one before and never used it plus it was a pain to cancel)
- told him i don't want a sim and I'm not paying 50% more than a new customer.
- puts me through to cancellation team
I know them making it difficult ultimately makes them more money (a bit like inflated insurance renewal prices) but they're still c***s for playing that game.
Sounds like they are now automatically offering existing customers a decent enough deal but it took some finding in my account online.Exactly the same as me a few weeks ago, went up to £120, phoned them, can get the same deal from Sky for £60 a month, a women rambles on for 10 mins saying i can do it for £110.00, no thanks, or i can add this and it will be £125.00, why would i want that, 10 mins later i say look you can't help me so i want to cancel my contract please, ok sir hold on let me put you through to out cancellation team, guy comes on, what's the deal you have seen, £60.00 with Sky, i can do that same deal but with better broadband for £66.00, yea that will do, didn't really want the arseing about of swapping anyway.
Which is pretty stupid really, why run the risk of losing custom, i have been with Virgin for over 20 years, so why risk losing my custom, a couple of years ago i actually left, well tried to, they basically refused me the new customer deal they had at the time ( i appreciate i wasn't a new customer but they had my custom for years) so i said end my contract next week when it's finished, got a phone call back 5 mins later, sorry sir i have spoken with my manager and due to your loyalty we can offer you the deal you asked for, i know it's a business but how many people would just say no not interested now.Sounds like they are now automatically offering existing customers a decent enough deal but it took some finding in my account online.
