Want to get a 182 Cup - Insurance Question

  LY 182
Hey guys..

Despite being a massive fan of the Clio, I can't say I have a huge background of information on them, specifically insurance wise..

I've just had my normal 1.2 Clio deemed uneconomic to repair and called a write off, despite me being the victim of poor driving from somebody else. Once I get a settlement offer etc, I want to look for a new car.

I really want a 182 Cup but i'm concerned I either won't get insurance or if I do it will be sky high.

I'm 21, but I don't have any years of NCB and also have some points for a speeding fine from not too long ago..

Your thoughts would be appreciated :)

Depending on your postcode you will pay between £1200 and £1800 i reckon.

Which I being 19 would jump at :(.

PS 182 cup is poverty spec ;)

Not being funny but there is no lazy way of finding out, the only way to find out how much it will cost is find a numberplate from a car on autotrader/pistonheads and start the boring task of entering your details into insurance companies, you could try confused.com etc but they never got the cheapest quotes for me.

Think my insurance was only about £900 when i was 21 with 0NCB, so shop around and you will find.

Either get a proper cup or a FF. imo. The insurance shouldnt be too bad around the price stated.

gocompare was the best insurcance comparison for me. then i tried bell on there own which got me the cheapest quote ive had so far.

confused was crap.

@DrRollo: Thanks a lot! Perhaps it won't be as bad as I'm expecting but yeh you're right, only one way to find out! Your £900 was fully comp?

@AlexG: Thanks for the advice, again will have a good look round!

Oh forgot to say it ws Directline that gave the cheapest for me, and now at 23 it's Privlidge, but neither did mods so used GreenLight

Well..best deal I can find is around £2200.

Thats fully comp on a 182 Cup. I've got 4 points on my license for SP30 (speeding basically), 0 NCB and a claim recently.. So i guess that's all increased it a lot.

Guess I'll need to save some more if i really want one :D

Yep i am 21 and pay £1300, but i have 3 years NCB, thats what will kill you. (i just turned 21, so this was my price at 20)

I payed trough my teath at 17 to have my own policy so i could get my NCB so i could insure a decent engine when i was 20, thats how it works as you know. Pay for it earlier and it will pay off.
Having no NCB and a claim you are seen as a high risk to any company.

@Bazzon: Yeah you're right. Well I could just save up so I could buy a car and a year's insurance out-right..

Or Just get a lower engine size Clio and try work up some NCB etc..
