Servicing / replacing parts etc!

Reason for this thread! as you all have made abusive / non constructive comments on my latest thread lol..i thought id explain what i was up to! (my car hasnt that many miles so just replacing the odd part when i fancy it! (easy bits to do)..as i do plan on keeping it

Id like other peoples suggestions on how they have manged to replace parts / service there car etc and keep things tip top!

Coulpe of my Top saving tips so far!

Pollen Filter 16.75 from Renault (fitted by renault 25.00)- ebay genuine part 3.49 (posted)NEW :approve: saving 21.00

Saving so far 54.00 - anyone else have any top saving idea..

Top saving tip - maintain your car!

Exhaust mounts - from Renault 40/50, do nothing £0. Saving -£180 having a new centre section grafted in when the exhaust snaps.

Of course, first step of maintence is cleaning. It I polished my exhaust I'd have seen the problem coming

I think the biggest tip is to shop around. All Renault dealers have different prices.

For example. At one dealer I was quoted £37 for a new gear gator. I went up the road (12 miles) and bought it at the next dealer for £5.50.

It amazes me that everyone (whoms car is out of warranty) doesnt use www.eurocarparts.com

They stock almost every mechanical part for Renaults.

Two window regulators from renault - £364

ECP - £160 for both...

At what point do renault not get it exactly.

Also be cheeky and try asking Renault for a discount. I got a discount from Renault for 172 Cup shocks all round, saving me about 45 quid (and they were then cheaper direct from the main dealer than anyone on the web).

The plastic tray was loose underneath my car.

The screw from renault only costs £2.85

So do Renault employees train for that sense of humor or is that a pre qualified advantageous part of employment?

Clean the underside with a tooth brush and cover any remaining muck with paint, accumulate an OCD for any dirt being on the car or near infact, paint the exhaust.
I think that just about sums it up
