Went to my local stealers this afternoon for their 'vip' event.

My old man got invited along to it & was a sent a pass, they closed the stealership for the afternoon to hold this event, as I had nothing planned this afternoon I decided i'd go along (it also meant that i'd see first hand what they had, rather than him try to explain some cars)

Anyway the pick of the bunch was,

05 reg trophy, £7995 (number 108 - same number as my vee)
54 reg 182 with cup packs & kerbed up alloys, £6995
58 reg white normal 197 £13,500

They claimed to have knocked between £500 - £1000 off the prices.

Apart from that they had a load of 'dealer specials' (the mk3 clios in black or white, with dodgy graphics & alloys)

My old boy liked the trophy, but not enough to want to buy one. This was at Renault Romford btw.

Arnold Clark Honda just tried to sell me a Trophy for £7495 with 47,000 miles on the clock. Think I'll pass cheers very much.

Im never suprised by what dealers claim to have as "special offers"

I dont know what it is about salesman that makes me want to walk away long before he starts telling me that it is infact a "great buy"

I hate car sales persons.

I went to a similar thing at my local dealer the other week... had a poke around the new Laguna GT Coupe thingy... nice!

walking round a renault dealerships is just dull imo. used to hate going into my local one everytime my car needed some warranty work, nothing remotely exciting unless they had some sort of RS model.

Also some of these prices they put up are just hilarious and the coffee is shocking!

these things are usually gash. I went to the eastern bmw 'vip' event. was utter guff, s**t like half price floor mats and money off some of the options.

used cars were all pretty much overpriced.
