what does everyone think of the mitsubishi colt turbo?

hi everyone went to mitsubishi this weekend with my mate to look at an l200 anyone whilst i was there i saw a lovely metallic gunmetal grey colt sport which i found out to be a 1.5 turbo producing 147bhp 0-60 in 7.3 seconds and 131 mph top speed!!! looked really nice sporty and had a fab speck and interior what does everyone think of these...wondered what you could get out of one with a chip....mmmmm mega fast!!!

My uncles got one. The 0-60 is actually just over 8 seconds. Ive been out in it and its well put together and nice interior but the dash is so long that it feels like an mpv.

the power delivery is very gradual so you cant tell its got a turbo as theirs no real kick at any rev point.

saying that it handles well and is a pretty quick car overall.

cheers for that mate it says the 155 of torque comes in at under 2k and the 0-60 is officially in the book at 7.3 with 131 mph top speed and 147bhp with a chip though jesus!!!!

it does as standard have a low boost level but as it already has a front mounted intercooler some decent tuning of it with increased boost should be achieveable.

the turbo is active across the rev range which gives it low down torque but no noticeable kick, instead a gradual delivery of constant power.

their also very reliable so their worth a shot.

They look quite nice and get a good write-up. A nice, fairly cheap way to have fun. They will never be mega fast, with or without a chip. Probably a better option than say a Fiesta ST.

i would love to get one and tune it to increase torque and power i bet they would be really tasty the car looks sturdy with the interior very well put together going to get a test drive in one to see whether i would consider for the future or not...anyone else had a go in one?

The official 0-60 is 8.0 secs.


Don't know much about them myself, all I know if that Evo didn't like it. Very average indeed. Not even fast.

Autocar tested one in the 2005 0-100-0

The colt posted

0-60 in 8.11
0-100 in 21.92
0-100-0 in 26.75

Was slightly slower than the Fiesta ST, got mullered by the 182 which hit 60 in 6.49, 100 in 16.74 and 0-100-0 in 21.42

i had a test drive in one, with a great young car salesman. he was like, ok give it some! very nice car, bit plasticy from waht i recall, but quick.
