what effect will these have on my cup

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Renault will adjust them for you,but i think theres more to them than just fitting them in the car.Im sure the wiring kit is different for xenons

ian .

BTW, to fit deflectors to a Ford Focus with Xenons costs £118.

At the end of the day, they werent fitted to the Cup for the weight reason, so youre commiting a crime by getting them anyway!

fitting will be a bit of a bugger as the wiring is completely different, but im sure they could be made to work

would be very efective way of improving your h/lights

ye there is all the HID control kit that you need too, not just the headlights cause the xenons need somthing like a 10,000 volt surge to kick the into action, kinda like the starter on strip lighting in kitchens.

the man is right they need the control unit/stepup packs, not sure how renaults are set up but on bmws there is one per headlamp and they are very costly, its also a legal requirement that all cars with xenons run headlamp wash which the cup has not got

why the hell do you need deflectors just align them properly lol once the center is set they auto adjust anyway for hight they are able to be aligned just like any other headlight

On the 172 there is a xenon charging unit attatched to the back of each headlight unit (its a 5" x 3" x 1" aluminium box). Apparently from a renault parts department these cost about 350 pound each.

If your considering buying these, ask the seller if these are already on the back of the lights. If they are you could get a bargain.

Bear in mind that when I scratched one of my headlights on the back of a Punto, grrr, the cheapest I could find a replacement was 80 quid from a salvage yard in Birmingham.

The standard items on the Cup are pretty good anyway!

Better than most cars actually...

you cant use stick on beam deflectors on xenons, some have adjustment internally for continental driving either by flicking a switch in the lamp or turning a knob and others are just set and cannot be adjusted, a xenon beam pattern is sligtly different to that of a standard lamp tho

Does anyone know why you have to have headlamp wash with xenon lights?

im under the impression that is is a legal requirement due to the brigtness of the light and the effect that any crap on the lens would have to how it is cast on the road. ill check this out anyway. you cant buy a bmw with xenons without headlamp wash nor can you buy a 172 without it, the cup doesnt have it as it hasnt got xenons

But if they get dirty surely they are just less bright, which is less of an issue with xenons than regular bulbs, isnt it?
