WHAT ENGINE DO I NEED! :@ !! ASAP

Hi i nee help from someone with a fair bit of clio knowledge if possible , my 1.2 8v clio has died well its running but smokes like a trooper and i think it time for a new engine however i fancy something different ,

what engine fits in my car with the least modification?
1.2 16v
1.4 8v or 16v ect ect and will any other engines work with my gearbox from the 1.2 8v? Any help would be VERy VERY much appreciated !! Thanks aston!

Not worth messing around for really. Either buy a 1.2 16v or 1.4 or just put another 1.2 8v in it.

I know it's not want your want to hear fella, but...

The option to get you a different engine with the least modification is sell/scrap your 1.2 and buy another Clio with a different engine.

Changing yours, even for another 1.2 8v really isn't worth the time/hassle/money/insurance bother.

I know its a lot of messing around but it really is worth it toe as i have had the car on the drive for 6 month modifying it and getting it spot on as i want it , when i bought it it was absolutely fine no smoke at all w after not being run for a few month it has a lot of smoke and smells a little like oil too so i was thinking ive done so much now im not going bak an i like doing things to the car so i was just wondering which out of any would be the easiest i know no engine will fit without modifying something else but wondered if the 1.4 is an easy fit?

Repair the one you've got?

If you're not doing the work yourself then the cost will very quickly mount up to the point where another car is by far the better choice. You can always take some or all of the mods off the current car and put them on another Clio.

id say get another one, swap all the mods you can over to said new one, then break the old one and see if you can make some moola back
