what have renault said about your mods??

people with 172/182 under warranty, what have they said when youve modified certain bits of the car??

have they just said that if you lower it, your suspension is no longer covered under warranty?? or declared your whole warranty void?

Local Renault franchise told me my engine mounts failing were related to the "sticky" tyres (TOYO T1-S) i had fitted at the time producing too much torque.

Yes, you read that right, my tyres produced torque!! Heh.

Anyway, they wouldnt do any warranty work because of it.

I've had a few things (biggest thing was gear box out to fix a leak) done under warranty and I've got a Maxogen, R sport ECU, De-cat and exhaust. They don't say a thing about my mods.

lol fubar.. my locals never said anything when i went in with yoko paradas on instead of the PE2's

but im guessing if someone went in with a knocking engine mount or a driveshaft snapping on a lowered car they'd blame the lowering..

the above story was on my old 4x4...

im actually pleased that my 172 is out of warranty... so they cant get their grubby mits on it :D

They've never had any trouble with my car when it was lowered they replaces suspension and a stearing wheel during the time.
They have to prove the chnages are causng the problem to refuse the work. Stickier tyres that a load of cobblers.

The servive guy at Renault Birmingham has seen the videos and pictures of my car at the Ring, Silverstone, Oulton Park etc etc and loves it. They just get on and sort it.

But thats what that car was intended to do right ;)

hehehe

:approve:

Local Dealer dont really care about mine. They did try to tell me i had uneven tyre wear due to the suspension. Service advisor started to mumble a bit when i told him the wheels had only been put back on that morning and i'd had a different set on while the car was lowered, and bar that morning the standard wheels had only been on with the standard suspension, lol.

Last time I went I had my ledas, exhaust and sports cat.

The service bloke came out had a look seemed quite interested in the mods asking how they improved the car etc., no mention of them effecting the warrenty.

They did not ask for any servicing records, which I was quite surprised about.

It was for a heater fault but from this blokes attitude I dont think they would have had issues with any other problems.

It is in the garages interest to do warrenty work so voiding a warrenty because of mods is losing them work.

I was told I could modify anything bodywork wise and external and leave the engine alone and the electrics ....

K&N is the only thing different to the engine, but engines need an air filter anyway ;)

Ive kind of ignored any request to keep my car standard. After a few dreadful body mods ive put it back to standard but induction kit, decat exhaust and ecu chip, plus now near standard 15s
Cars been in three times in a year for engine mounts which have been done under warrenty with no questions asked.

It needed engine mount fixing and the climate control panel replacing. They ordered 172 mounts for it because of how it looked. muppets.

it fooled most people though. it was only a little 1.2. :)
