Nice idea - i like it.Under that alcantara (glued to cardboard) is the internals of a wireless charger. You can buy them off ebay for under a tenner. The wires run through the panel gap into the centre console where the chargers circuit board is connected to a USB cable. That's plugged into the lighter as normal then.
No mate, its pretty weak tbh. Will only penetrate up to 5mm hence the alcantara. The cardboard is just to make up thickness to be a flat surface.Nice idea - i like it.
Does it interfere with radio reception or sound ?
Bought it...drove it from the tip of north wales to the arse end of mordor (south wales). Didn't skip a beat.
Sorry, had to do it.
@Filters Sabelt wheel looks great. I kind of miss mine but the material doesn't stay like that unfortunately.
I'm gussing from that statement you regretted the choice?Retrim is the way to go. I wanted to do it to my old one but I sold it for a omp wheel and induction kit!
Lots needs to take out, I have a customer that has one of my heads in his Mk2 escort, ST170 engine making 230bhp on standard inlet manifold. That looks pretty rough to start with that ST170 head.
Yep done one, there is room for improvement. You just get many people tuning these engines to that level whee head work is needed. Is there much to gain on an E46 M3? Haven't heard of anyone doing it so guessing not much point?
Sorted out a horrible rattle which made the car sound very broken from outside...turns out the fuel rail guard had worked loose and one of the nuts has in fact came off and disappeared altogether! Tightened up the remaining nut and will need to order up another one for the other side, the joys of French auto-mobiling
Truly horrible noise, glad it turned out be something so simple, was a bit worried myself!I has that driving in France for the first time, was getting very worried!
Fitted some new interior strips to freshen things up a bit.
Then gave her a quick little wash since buying it....before the rain hit.
Then dug through my box of goodies and decided the sabelt wheels going on soon.
The CF looks lovely. Is that genuine CF or a very good copy? What is the source?
Moar pics!182 heads with all the bells and whistles... Not much left to do on this one. View attachment 135496
isn't the 9887 imprint ready?I have done a few things recently.
The first included putting in another HU into the car. I have a lovely Alpine 9887R with a Bluetooth module but I did not wish to fit it for a few reasons:
It seems my prayers were answered with me wanting a simple to fit HU. A mate of mine sold me an Alpine CDE-178BT HU with all of the above in new condition for a great price. While I love a stock look the benefits the HU has given me are great. Handsfree calling (crystal clear too!), Bluetooth streaming for music and sat nav, and improved radio reception! Who said old cars could not enjoy new tech?
- The box for the BT requires fitting somewhere
- I am saving it for the Escort RST ; some of the functions would be wasted in this car ; it has active crossovers I plan to utilise with a sub and component system in the Escort .
In other news I managed to diagnose that my reversing sensor is kaput. A new sensor with the relevant seals are ready.
