I didn't take any photos of getting the 6.5" in the doors mate but I can give an overview of what I did.
  • First I removed the door card. This was a pain as the door cards have this seal which is really strong and difficult to get off. I used a flat head screw driver to pry open the door card and then used a butter knife to "cut" the seal. I would wear some gloves too (I didn't), the seal is sticky and hard to get out of nails (does make your hands look manly though).
  • I then got my 6.5" speaker and measured the depth and created a speaker ring using MDF (18mm).
  • Once the ring was cut, I had to cut part of the door card which housed the stock speaker (looks like a cone).
  • The speaker ring was then screwed in using the same torx screws that were holding the stock speakers in. You can make more holes for screws but I couldn't budge the ring at all.
  • As I'm wiring these to a crossover located in the boot, I fed a wire through the door loom and to the back of the car. Using flat speaker cable makes this process a lot easier. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0033GGXVS/?tag=cliospnet01-21
  • I then screwed in speaker in the door and then removed it again because i forgot to actually connect the wires
Currently started working on my first A-pillar pods.

Will hopefully have them fibre-glassed by end of this coming week.
It is interesting to see another audio build in a Clio. I am debating doing one myself, but have kept to only fitting an Alpine CDE-178BT in for now. I could not be asked to fit in the 9887R head unit with the Bluetooth box!

What are you doing for processor power etc.?

All items were purchased from my local branch of Andrew Page, strangely enough at £72 i/c vat each, with the exception of the ball joint @ £11.00 ish.
The RH driveshaft is a SHAFTEC product, their part number R218AR,& is spot on for my PH 2 non cup 172,I have pushed hard, with particular attention to left hand corners & no problems.

I'm running an Alpine head unit with a Genesis Profile 2 Amp for my components. I think the amp provides enough power for my taste. I'm having some difficulties with the fibreglassing at the moment since it's my first time. Getting the fabric to attach is soo damn frustrating. Still planning to get them done by the end of the weekend.

I plan build a false floor in the boot. Currently have a 12 inch vibe sub which is good for the money. However, I'm looking to get something better sub and amp wise. I plan to upgrade the head unit to a Pioneer DEH-80PRS

Fitted a new battery.

Was slightly bigger than the one it replaced so my fattys induction kit won't fit anymore, so back to the original airbox too.

Don't know if its just a lack of noise, but it just feels that little less eager. Probably all in my head though

Having washed and a waxed I then decided to adjust my bonnet release which resulted in me being unable to open the bonnet. After an hour I was eventually able to get back in having had the good fortune of removing the grill before hand.

Nice ! have you had other clios - see you have been on the forum for years.
Needs lowering a tad
Hi, yes I had a 172 cup a few years ago. Sold it in 2009 so this is me just getting back in one, will be a weekend toy which I plan to attend a few meets and shows with. I have a few plans for it one of which is indeed to lower slightly

Removed my newly fitted rear 25mm spacers in my lunch break at work as they rubbed on the arches on its test drive. They're off to the stepdads lathe to be machined down to 15mm. Hopefully this will sort it.

I've no doubt I'll get shredded for this. But living in wet old wales I've soon got sick of my feet sliiping off the pedals....

Temporay measure until my black grip tape arrives. Looks gash but hey...no more slippage.

Skateboard grip tape indeed chap....would be a better touch in black but for now it does the job well.

Lol! I've often thought about that in the winter, but I drive bare foot far too much during the summer (I live life at the beach) and like my feets.

Fitted new rear brake pads as whoever did them the last time hadn't done them properly and one fell out this morning
