What have you done to your car today ???

Handbrake on my 182 was also useless until I had the calipers rebuilt, then 2 or 3 clicks and it was rock solid. Worth looking into.
It's at Birchdown in about 10 days for new pads, cables and refurbed calipers. On the drive it's left in gear and has a brick behind a front wheel. It's a pain in the arse!

All washed this afternoon after a little haul from Auto Finesse. Even managed to get a helper 😆

Haven't touched the 197 since I parked it up a few months ago after an evening session at Snetterton so of course I've left it to the last minute as usual, trackday booked for Tuesday and the car needs discs and pads all round, tyres swapped front to rear, a service and a general check over.

Changed the front discs because the drilled ones have all started cracking. They seem to have this little crack and then the next major heatcycle will open them right up. I don't normally buy drilled/grooved discs but these were nearly half the price of the normal HC discs.

Front pads have a decent amount of meat left although one has a slight bit of crumbling, they're CL RC6's and bloody expensive so I don't really want to change them until they're done, so I have some Mintex F2R in the spares box to change at lunchtime.

Direzzas are about done too, you can barely feel the tread on the inside 1/3 of the tyre so these have gone on the back, the ones that are now on the front have about 2mm tread left so they'll need swapping for something else in time for Knockhill in a month!

Didn't change the rears, the studs have welded themselves in and I couldn't budge them, the discs are 6+ years old and the pads are about 4 years old now, they have some life left so they'll go again for Tuesday, I'll actually change them for Knockhill though. Didn't get around to servicing the car either as it started chucking it down, the oil isn't that old anyway so it'll be fiiiiiine.

Performed my first ever oil change on a car today.

Always been interested in doing my own car maintenance but shyed away from it. Got a 182 a few weeks back as a run around and decided to do the service myself.

Air filter and cabin filter easy.

Jacked up the car (another first for me). Was slightly nervous about doing it but it wasn't so bad. Used jack stands and had ramps under the front wheels for extra protection.

Oil change was fairly easy. Got none of the old oil on the floor. Thought I'd done a nice and clean job of it, to then put the funnel I'd used to refill on the floor in a moment of madness and got oil on the drive

Went to do the spark plugs, fairly easy to get to but then found out that my spark plug socket was too big to fit. So need to get another one to finish off the job.

Overall though, first time ever servicing a car went okay.

Good on ya, it’s always satisfying getting something done yourself and saving a fortune doing so.

First picture I've taken of the car, cleaned the wheels and thinking of going down to 18's, although on second thoughts the wheels look so good. EDIT: Just realised how moody the picture looks, was about to rain.
