What KTech say

Q
Will an induction kit make a huge difference?

A

In general you will feel a difference yes. If complimented with other tuning mods a bigger difference will be felt. Dont expect huges though, 10bhp is average but its a good place to start
This seems slightly mis leading id say. 10bhp is being very optimistic for an induction kit, obviously it depends wot kind u go for, but still misleading.

think the bit they missed out was "our products show that on high performance turbo charged cars we have seen a 10bhp increase on the best model". 0-5bhp is more realistic.

Remember at the end of the day k-tec have to sell. If hillpower say they can give you 10bhp and k-tec say 3bhp who are you going to go for if youre not that well educated on cars?

if i read that and didnt know about IK id order and expect around 10bhp.

my mates got a K&N induction kit on his mark 1 1.4 which sits right on top the engine. he is under the impression that it gives loadsa of hp more.

i told him hes likely to be loosing hp as its just suckin in hot air from atop the enigne, he did not understand !!

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

Ive got viper, exhaust w/decat and chip if I believed the tuners my car would have about 180 bhp! lol I guess there must be some base for the 10 bhp claim, but I take all power claims with a pinch of salt.

damn i really hate this spam filter, written to this thread 5 times now!!!

ANyway, the simplified version.

Current tuning companies spent far too much time trying to lull the customer into false claims rather than just produce a decent product. And with the state of the current GP when it comes to reading modifications, it makes it too easy.

Its no fault of the GP, and its only natural for companies to exploit an easy profit.

They financially rape those who cant.

Sad i know.

I have a K&N on mine and power seems to really die at higher speeds. I know the power is there. Will putting the original airbox with say a K&N panel filter make any difference Ben?

(memo to self, get De-cat from Lunner!)

im getting really sick and tired of this bloody spam filter.

I did a nice reply which would bloody well solve everybodies problems and questions, and now its gone.

I cant be arsed again.

please, oh PLEASE junk this spam filter.

  300bhp MR2 Turbo

My filter makes no difference, if anything I may have lost some.

With just a backbox and a piper-x filter Im making 136.5 bhp.

That could be cause the engines done 104k or cause the filters lost some.

Sounds fcuking superb though so Ill live without that 0.5 hp!!

Its not a filter BTW its soem stupid mismatched timing on the computers Jas needs to syncronise them again. Seem to be getting worse all the time this problem or it may just be me spending to much time on here.

But these modified intake kits in my opinion arnt worth it. The best gains are usually a cold air intake and a pannel filter. Oiled filters can sometime mess up the MAF sensor and reduce the cars power.

we dont have MAF sensors so it wont mess it up, and oiled filters only cause a problem if overly oiled.

  350z & 16v Maxi

I had a ram air filter on my car and i deffo lost power, took it back off.

They do improve performance if you can get cold air to it tho!!!

Nick at Hill Power would never say you would get 10bhp from an air filter, hes very realistic

Ive put a piperx open kit on and it has lost power as I was expecting it to. However Im going to put a cold air feed in and that should bring it back to how it was hopefully.
