What to spend my cash on?

  Trophy 88/500
Iv got aboot £500 - £700 to spend on my car, its a trophy. i want to get the good of my money and the best gains in power/performance. the car is totally standard and its time to spend a lil cash on it. any advice on what to buy and where to get it from, ie web sites etc. i live in the ne of scotland so theres not much garages up here!

cheers Sean

i wouldnt waste £500 on any mods within that price range, there is fooooook all and will just end up the same lol;)

  Trophy 88/500
how much would u advise spending? im not going daft and getting it turbo'd or anything even tho it would be great!

Keep it standard is the best thing you can do with the trophy, dont abuse her with silly mods.

Stainless zorst and ITG panel filter worth thinking of though, standard ones are a bit gash.

  Trophy 88/500
with the zorst go for a de cat or just leave the stardard cat in? who supplies a good exhaust? i was lookin at the viper induction kit earlier but not sure on how good it worked, whats the best induction kit to go for?

Alright Sean,

A classic nite out in the head!!! With Louise Duthie...There goes your 500£ haha

ITG maxogen and decat mate then remap with PMurray.

  Trophy 88/500
a nite oot we lou would cost aboot £500 i hina seen her in ages so id hav to make the best of it ali!

ITG Maxogen is that a induction or a replacement filter? where will i get a decent exhaust and de cat?

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
i would leave the trophy suspension well alone. my £ would go on a BTB exhaust from shed motorsport, a good start as the trophy shouldnt be too molested imo. if you must get a filter just go with a panel, others are overpriced & a waste of £.

As others say.....leave the Trophy as std as possible

Im going for:
Panel filter (green) £40
Full stainless exhaust £500ish

Decat / Sports cat depending on if ur brave or not

In all about £600 mods

5 - 10 extra bhp plus will sound a load better

These mods can easily be reverted pre selling etc.

im definately not touching the suspension, any1 got any info on exhausts, best place to buy where to get fitted in the ne scotland area! i had a power flow on my last car but it was s**t!

I'd also go with the above:D

Get a good set of coiovers, ditch the 4x4 ride height and ebay the silly priced sachs dampers to some mug!

Reducing body roll = more power through corners;)

Plus it'll look tons better

The RS doesn't need more power to be honest. Just more grip and better brakes. I wish i'd gone down that road now.

  Turbos.
I don't see the problem with changing the Trophy's suspension, at least when you revert back to the Sachs dampers they'll be almost new still.

Suspension is always the first thing i'd change on a road car, however well regarded an OEM setup is, you can always improve it.

Unless you own a Ferrari or TVR etc. then a different exhaust is a must!

Your a brave man saying that ;)

I completely agree though. Renault design special dampers but cant take an inch (at least!) out of the ride height.

They also put Recaros in but the seat height is only 1cm lower then standard.

They should have gone further and made it much more hardcore, IMO.

Anyway get a decat, manifold match and a remap.

i disagree! it is just a 182 albeit with funny dampers

if it were me, it be straight on our Billie coilovers, recaros would be out and some proper seats in, plus i'd loose the peashooter and but a proper job on there, oh and of course TB's

but this is all blasphemy for Trophy owners ;)

  Trophy 88/500
well TB's are slightly out of my price range and the seats are fine IMO. id change the exhaust, get a de cat, pannel fliter and remap but that will surely all come to over £700?

Damn f**king straight

Trophy spec should have been

200bhp
no rear seats
fixed buckets
Coilovers
4pots

in white

It might have been worth buying then.

  Turbos.
Poor business acumen there Fred! Surely you should be saying 4 pots are a must, fitted by you of course?!

I've tried saying to people get driver training, but the reality is Cliosport.net is more about having the best sticker on your car.

FredYozzasport said:
but why 4pots? there's no real need on a clio unless you're 22stone

So are the standard brakes so good that they wont fade when being driven hard around a track?

*depending on conditions and driver ability

(my original statement was me having a joke!)
