Whats quicker a 172 cup or modded mk4 gti

  BMW 330d :)

Theres a guy at work whos spent a stupid amount of money on his golf and says that the 1.8 T is now pushing out close to 260 bhp. Would it be able to beat mine 0-60 considering standard it is 8.5 secs to 60 and also the fact he would get loads of wheelspin!

mmmm, I recon on a dry day and in good conditions he may have the edge.

But you will never know until you go for it on a sprint run or track.

Yeah well i think it mite be close. He said that he had a drag (on a 1/4 mile) against a regular 172 in the dry and just beat it!

Makes me think i can take down his 28k golf!

Youll beat him from launch as he wont be able to get the power down....rolling might be closer but I can keep along side my m8s 260bhp wrx so it should still be the Cup....is the golf stripped or std interior as they are heavy buggers

How do you stay along side the 260bhp Subaru? Its figures for 0-60 (5s) and 0-100 (14s) are much lower than a 172 Cup. Quarter mile in high 13s and low 14s which I dont think the Cup can manage that without some modification.

Your mates launch and gear changes must suck.

As for the Golf. IF he can get the power down without spinning the wheels like crazy hell beat you. (Power after all is power) but I doubt hell be able to do it.

Race him on a strip and find out!

this will probably go on to a massive debate about Cups vs Imprezas again but still,

Once rolling there isnt that much difference in the 172 Cup or the Impreza, so it could be done, having had lots of experience of the WRX, i can believe that the cup could pretty much stay with it once rolling. cant really beat 4wd off the line though

0-100 in 14 ish for the scooby. 0-60 in 5. So thats 60-100 in 9 secs. Not exactly blistering.

If you look at Chriss 1/4 mile time/terminal.... 14.1 @98mph!! theres no way Chriss Cup would be in the 5s 0-60, more like 6.5 I would guess. So that makes his car (all rough I know but you get the idea) 7.6 60-98. Add on a bit for the extra couple of mph to get to the 100mph mark and you can see that there will not be a great deal in it.....

I wouldnt be surprised if Chris n Nics Cup could pull a length or two on a standard scoob below a ton....

Afaik, C & N s Cup has an Rsport ECU, filter and zorst.

Fraser, whats so good about 0-60 mate??

A MK 4 golf with 260bhp running through the front wheels would make your car look silly on the move. Not so much 0-60 as it is a heavier car and traction would be difficult but once popped into 3rd, youd be a dot in the rear view.

A 260bhp 4wd impreza is far different from a 260bhp FWD car.

The impreza will be lucky to have 190bhp of that at the wheels, the FWD car will have around 225 of that at wheels.
